I was so hopeful about this restaurant. Apparently James Beard and I had a very different experience. I started with the smoked beet salad, which was inedible. It tasted as if the cook had poured an entire bottle of liquid smoke over it, and to add insult to injury, added smoked cheese. Truly inedible. I then had the lobster curry, which was incredibly bland. Anyone can add a can of coconut cream, but that a curry does not make. This plus a glass of house cabernet cost $130, What a waste! Service was good and the ambience was hippy chic.

Excellent gourmet vegan options that would be appealing in a major metropolitan area let alone in tiny Taos. They know food and ingredients.
Vegetarian options: Vegan appetizers and mains options

Creative and beautifully prepared cuisine. The menu offers multiple dishes that happen to be vegan. We tried four of them, and each was as delicious as the next. These were complete vegan dishes, crafted by a chef who clearly has knowledge of plant-based cuisine. Some of the dishes included an excellent house made vegan kimchi and other pickled vegetables. We've had the good fortune to have eaten at many amazing vegan restaurants, and recommend this 100% to vegans and nonvegans alike.
Also offers an excellent NA mixed drink, as well as one NA beer. Also a carefully curated wine list.
Vegetarian options: Vegan options--lots, including a vegan dessert (at lease on the night we dined there).
Parking: Lots of free parking.

This was the most remarkable food experience I've had in New Mexico, and a top experience of our many fortunate wonderful eating experiences.
We had the smoked carrot tartare, the kale miso salad, and the 48-hr short ribs, followed by the concord grape sorbet.
The tastes were complicated, layered, harmonious. It was the kind of meal where you stop and really think about the experience your mouth is having.
Highest rating. We loved it. Hats off to the chef.
