Order cheese enchiladas with green chili sauce. I received a green chili enchiladas with cheese on top. The chili's blew out my palette. I told the waiter John about it he said that's how there made and offered a dessert, which there was no way I could eat, with a palette and stomach on fire.
No comp, on the bill of 72 $
We won't return

If you are passing through or live here, dont miss the opportunity to eat in this friendly, cozy, affordable Mexican restaurant. Beer on tap, full bar, super-sized fresh sopapillas for dessert.

We were visiting T or C for a few days and were staying across the street and decided to check this place out. My friend got the #9 and I got the supreme pork burrito: both were delicious and filling. They also had a good lunch menu with lots of specials under $9. We arrived around 1145 am and there was no wait but when we left around 1245 there was a small wait as they only had the left side dining room open. Our server, Chloe, was top notch. She was happy to answer any menu questions we had and was great and checking up on us. There was also another younger server/ host gentleman that was also friendly and thanked us for coming as we were walking out. If you’re looking for a hearty meal with great service this place is worth checking out.

I only like to leave sub par reviews for very sub par experiences...and this experience was so sub par that they will never get my business again.

Let's start the story off in early November 2024; a fellow traveler and I were told to go to La Cocina and we did. I found it to be underwhelming, but my friend enjoyed the spot, so we made it a fairly regular place to stop and have lunch.

Each time I would go to this restaurant I feel the food quality dropped off significantly...

I stop in today, January 2, 2025 and it's my last payment to this restaurant. I ordered a chicken finger basket with onion rings, which sounded good to my appetite and it's difficult to mess up! The food was inedible; the tenders cooked too long and were dry and almost too tough to bite. The onion rings were done on the outside and mushy-nasty on the inside. The oil they must have cooked this food in must have been dirty because everything tasted nasty.

I ate one tender and a few onion rings and I pushed my plate forward and told my green haired waitress that everything on that plate was off. She said she was sorry and she would tell a manager when they get in.

I don't point out nasty food to get anything for free, but she didn't even take my sweet tea off the check ...

There are plenty of other Mexican options in the area and even a diner-type deal down the hill attached to a hotel. Do yourself a favor and try and eliminate a steadily declining, hit or miss kind of dining experience at La Cocina.

I even left the waitress that possessed Joker like qualities a 20% tip on an uneaten meal and a complaint. Those will be the last dollars ever spent at this restaurant.

I would have been better off with tenders from Wal Mart. How bad do things have to be to push chicken tenders aside? Yes, that's bad.

I had been coming to TorC to soak for a decade before I drove up the hill to try La Cocina. I deeply regret those wasted years. The chile con carne is a life changing experience. Whenever I go, I agonize over choosing green or red. Their shrimp tacos are also vey good. Furthermore, they make margaritas the way I like them- not too sweet. Their Paloma’s are equally perfect. Sadly, 14 oz rib eye is too much for me, but my companion raves about it.

It was cheap. But so was the service and experience. I put in a to go order. I waited 20 min after arriving, up front for someone to come up to acknowledge me. I checked the food and it had to be redone 3 times. It kept coming up wrong or missing items. One of the attempts had tomatoes, and I told them I was allergic. They didnt seem too concerned, and just mentioned they had a new guy. They were fully staffed. I arrived at the restaurant to pick up my order at 505pm. I didn't leave with my food until 550pm.. 45 min to pick up a to go order. I will never come back here. This is ridiculous. I know TorC is small, and limited restaurants. So they have a bit of a monopoly. But this was absurd. If you go here, be ready to wait 30 min to be acknowledged when you enter, and plan for at least an hour and a half for them to make your food, then remake it, then remake it again, then bring it to you with items missing. Then having to go wait while they find missing items.. Ill just bring food from Albuquerque with me next time. I finally got the food back to where I was staying and it was cold and greasy. Do not waste your money and time here. McDonald's is better than this ridiculousness. Just wow. This place has gone downhill.. never again..

Very disappointed with the steak salad I ordered, the salad lettuce was welted and brown, obviously very noticeable and they still served this with no shame! I was surprised and disappointed. I’m surprised the waitress was ok bringing that out of the kitchen!
