I travel from Texas to Albuquerque very often and always look over at PENNYS and think I should stop in. Never did before but today I did and was very happy with the entire experience. Great food and friendly staff. I will be back to eat there and make sure anyone that is with me will try it also. Great stop after long drive in the desert.

Tasteless food. Slow service. And on the top of everything your clothes get smelly.

Penny's under new management, new menu, new people working. This is a must go and eat at least once or every other month. They can serve a large crowd or a small and their food is wonderful. Love the people working there too.

Stopped in late at night at 3 am because we saw the 24/7 open sign and bright white lights on, and a ole' fashioned diner appeal which was great. Walked in and got stared down by the employees and asked "how they could help" "Food or coffee?" We were directed to the next employee who clearly didn't want to help. After requesting coffee, the guy gave us two cups of coffee with no spoons and no creamer. Then never helped us again. After we were done, and went to pay, we were told it was on the house. I'm guessing the kitchen was in the middle of being cleaned, and maybe the till was already closed and counted. Not sure, but I'll come back again because of my love for the route through NM. Thanks

Located at the ‘Crossroads of New Mexico’, Penny’s is that quintessential americana dreamscape of a rural hwy diner. Friendly hard working folks behind and at the counter serving and sharing stories over really good fare is what you’ll find here. The pancakes are fluffy, the bacon and hash browns are crispy. Omelette ordered with fresh grilled jalapeños, tomatoes, and mushrooms and cheese and you will feel like you’re in on the secret. My partner had what he described as the best chicken fried steak he’s ever had despite no red or green NM chile, which was the only downside of this locale. If you find yourself taking the alternative to I-40 and passing thru Vaughn you should definitely drop in and leave a big tip while you’re at it.

Horrible customer service.waited 5 mins before being acknowledged at the front counter. asked for a menu. Was told they didn’t have menus and that I would have to scan a code on my phone. The young blonde lady doing dishes rolled her eyes after I told them I didn’t have my phone on me. Front desk lady who had was behind computer monitor lied saying they did not have menus since Covid. I call BS! I work in Vaughn everyday and know they have menus…..

This place absolutely is HORRIBLE.. Been waiting for them to COOK our food for 30 min! Someone walked in 10 min after us and ordered and their food.. Very RUDE workers as well.. This place shouldn't even be in business, DON'T STOP AT THIS PLACE, GO TO KRIS'S INSTEAD!! If I could give ZERO stars I would!

Ordered BLT with crispy bacon, specifically asked no raw bacon on mine and ranch...and texas toast on my mom's BLT.... both of ours had BLACK LETTACE, my bacon was not cooked all the way, no ranch dressing and my mom's had regular white bread. Cook said, I put the bacon on at the same time. She knew it wasn't cooked and that the lettuce black. ( it was slimming too) she offered to put my bacon back on the grill. I told her I'd pull off the raw parts. My thinking was if you can't read the order and choose to use rotted lettuce, no thank you.

My visit on Sun Oct 20 - The food and atmosphere was on-point, but the service by the young man working the floor was appalling. Polite, but clueless. The cook was not only working the griddle but carrying his duties as well. He never made rounds to check on anyone, to top off coffee, clean off tables, etc. Aside from that, a fun, classic diner atmosphere and the food tasted pretty good.
