We came here to grab a loaf of bread. There was no prices advertised but we assumed it would be under $10. It ended up being $14 and unfortunately the bread just wasn't amazing to warrant that price.
Qualify and HOME MADE authentic tasty food. Family run says it all. Lunch supper and fabulous baked goods.

Memorable is the word I would use to describe this experience.
The moment we stepped in, we were warmly greeted by the staff. With family photos on the walls, it was clear this is a family-operated restaurant filled with heart.
Yes, the food took a little time, but was it worth it? Absolutely. The chicken sandwich was perfection, from the soft fresh bread to the flavorful grilled chicken, with the sauce and veggies giving it the perfect punch. A solid 10/10.
Since it is also a café, we explored the bakery section. The apple strudel was a first for me, and I loved every bite. The Berliner was also incredibly fresh.
To anyone visiting Annapolis Royal, do yourself a favor and stop here for a meal. You will not regret it.

My wife and I came to this establishment shortly after they opened on a weekday. The lady owner served us as we shopped for pastries. We were certainly left with the impression that our business was not particularly welcome. We found the lady proprietor to be rather surly. Perhaps we just caught her on a bad morning? The two pastries were nothing exceptional, particularly in light of the price.

Great German pastries, but very overstressed staff.

Honestly, I was blown away by the lack of business transparency. I have traveled across Canada and have stopped at various bakeries and restaurants on my journey. Decided to purchase 1 turnover and 4 cookies. The lady at the baked goods simply hollered at the cashier that my total came to $28.50. Now, I have been to various gourmet bakeries, and this had to the most expensive one in Canada. The baked good where ok, but nothing much different from other bakeries. Please put up a price board behind the baked goods counter so people can decide wether they want to pay $10 dollars for a turnover or strudel.

Authentic food and baked goods, but the service was slow and the woman behind the baked goods counter was rude +. The first thought that popped into my head was she must be from Berlin!

No problem with the food, it is always very good. We arrived and waited a while before we were asked for our order. We had a simple request: a sausage on a bun and a bowl of goulash. We waited. Two customers arrived after us and were served their beer, then their meals while we still waited for ours. I was seated with a view into the kitchen and I watched their meal being prepared which involved some meat on the grill. I finally complained and was told they were rushed and our meal will be soon ready. There were six people in the restaurant and two only had dessert. It was kind of funny waiting for our simple meal while watching the cook preparing food with one hand and on the phone with the other. We won't be back.

The food looked delicious, but we were on a tight schedule and there was just one server for both the bakery and the restaurant. So, we had to leave. I apologized, but the server was rather unpleasant. I will go there again when I have more time.

I was very excited to go here, but I was pretty disappointed. The service is atrocious. Every staff member you encounter is rude and very to the point. The baked goods are overpriced for what it is. They taste pretty good but honestly, you‘d be better off getting the same things from the grocery store. They are almost indistinguishable.

A very traditional German bakery and restaurants. The is a variety of selections in the menu to please most, including kids.
The soups we tried were delicious. Hearty and definitely homemade.
The bakery has an amazing array of breads and years. After viewing the selection, we were unable to leave without a few delicious cookies and rolls.
An excellent option when in Annapolis Royal.
Highly recommend!

We love German bakeries and really wanted to love this one, too. Our first disappointment (and shock) was paying the bill. 5 pretzels, 4 cookies and 4 cinnamon buns came to $90. Prices aren’t listed, and we anticipated much less -definitely ask! We held hope that the baking would be amazing at those prices, but we were again disappointed. The pretzels weren’t fresh and half tasted like molasses, as if they’d be baked on molasses cookie pans. They were also quite dry. The ginger molasses cookies had a strange, crumbly texture we weren’t expecting. The cinnamon buns were dry, but tasted fine. If prices had been reasonable, taste and quality would have been 2.5 stars.
Very expensive to buy cookies. But they were so delicious and so worth the cost.

Amazing small business!
Food was delicious. We both got the Bratwurst in a Keizer bun with homemade potato salad and sauerkraut. Delicious.
Took home some baked goods too, an apple strudel and a raspberry ufo tart. Amazing. All made in house.
It was quite busy and they were rushed off their feet but kept everything running smoothly and food coming to tables with great spirit.
Highly recommend visiting if you are in the area & looking for good genuine homemade food with German roots & skill.
