A wonderful view of the Northumberland Strait, great drinks and always a friendly face!

really beautiful, scenic location. lots of alcohol made on site, gin, vodka, whisky. you can buy a drink at the bar inside and also buy small and large bottles. staff didnt seem excited, interested, or friendly. things inside to purchase weren't clearly labelled and was a lot of questions just to understand which flavor was offered in each size.

Gin-tastic Potential, but Missing a Few Ingredients

There’s much to love about the Ginstitute at Steinhart Distillery—plenty of gin, a stunning view, and a class that's as educational as it is boozy—but like a good cocktail, it’s missing a few key ingredients to make it perfect.

The good? Oh, it's really good. We’re talking knock-your-socks-off views of the Northumberland Strait (PEI is practically waving at you), an eccentric host who lives and breathes gin, and cocktails that will have you wondering if you should pack up your life and move here. Plus, there’s a hands-on gin-making class that will leave you feeling like a distiller. All in all, the gin-credible experience you've heard about.

But here’s the tonic to your gin. The food truck—great for a snack, not so much for an entire weekend’s meals. And the cabin? Let’s call it 'rustic,' but not in that chic Instagrammable way. More like ‘this lamp’s missing a lampshade, and why does this loveseat look like it’s wearing a diaper?’ You get the picture.

My advice? Bring your own snacks and expectations of a laid-back, rustic vibe. A little welcome basket and a clear ‘here’s what’s happening’ booklet would go a long way in helping guests settle in. Fix the screens, toss in some extra seating, and suddenly this place is as charming as a cold G&T on a hot day.

All in all, is it worth visiting? Absolutely, just come prepared with some picnic-worthy provisions, and expect a few quirks along the way. It’s like a cocktail made with love but missing the garnish—a little rough around the edges, but still worth the sip.

Drinks and food tasted great. However, the bartender was quite rude when we asked questions about the drink menu. They were out of quite a few ingredients to make certain cocktails, which was fine however the way we were made to feel like we were a nuisance for asking for a squeeze of lemon or a straw left us not wanting to return or order another beverage.
As business owners, we understand when things run out after a busy day, but the way you speak to a customer is just as important as the quality of the menu. In this case the menu looked great but the service was poor, making our experience less than stellar.

Good gins and vodkas. Very flavorful gin & tonics. We tried the Rhubarb G&T, Blueberry, & Haskap... The gals behind the bar lacked any knowledge about the site, location, ingredients used to make the local flavors. We had taken a 45-minute detour from our road trip specifically to come to this distillery hoping to learn moe abou the unique flavors from other reviews. It was only because of the taste of he drinks, we ended up buying a couple of bottles. It would have been nice to have someone more knowledgable sharing about the history about gins and vodkas we bought. The charm in visiting distilleries is in the story of how the product is made.

Fish and chips were amazing this year!! Can’t wait to try the local hamburger! So so good! 😊 Drinks were yummy as usual!! Beautiful scenery!

Came home from work, poured some Steinhart Bourbon Whiskey that my daughter brought to Ontario into a Yeti with ice, added some ginger ale and headed outside. Sipping away the stresses of the week with this lovely whiskey. The sunshine and beverage are awesome.
Thanks so much! Was a delicious gift!

We stopped in for a drink on an afternoon drive. Great host, beautiful view and kickin’ Caesar.

Unbelievably rude people. Represent yourself outside of your company the way you would inside of it. Being disrespectful to those in the service industry is completely unacceptable and people shouldn’t give this company business!

A must stop to stock up on your favorite spirits, have a delicious cocktail, eat a yummy lunch with a breathtaking view, and tour a distillery in action. My family has been frequenting this place for years. I recommend it to everyone! Super friendly staff with the best vodka and gin cocktails around. at a great price. They have recently renovated and it’s even a cooler “bar” store area. Make sure to sign the “graffiti” bathroom wall (super clean restroom!)

Beautiful spot with great views and great drinks! The staff were super kind and helpful. I purchased some gin to take home, loved it.

For the food : Once a beloved spot for its hearty Schnitzel, this restaurant has taken a disappointing turn. Now, the menu resembles something you'd find at a typical food truck, a stark contrast to its former glory. Despite the amazing view it offers, the overall experience is soured by an agonizingly long wait time. With only one person taking orders and preparing food, you're looking at more than a 90-minute wait for your meal. Sadly, the stunning view doesn't make up for the long delay and the diluted menu. This isn't the place it once was, and unfortunately, I won't be returning
