Unfortunately as I write this McCurdy’s as well as the Silver Dart Lodge are closed for the season. We did have the pleasure of dinning here while staying at the Silver Dart Lodge. Service at the Lounge and Dinning room was great. Staff was very accommodating and food was good too! Silver Dart was a great home base for exploring the Cabot Trail.

Wednesday breakfast was buffet only-disappointing. Nothing special and sparse offering at 9 am. It was good but expensive for quality and options. Staff nice.

So glad they squeezed us in before they closed — we had a good dinner & drinks after a long day of travel and then hiking. Whew. Loved it.

A very disappointing meal. The waitress did her best but it was obvious that she needed a lot more training. The menu has not been changed in quite some time.
We have eaten here many times before and the food has been delicious.
Not so tonight. The pork tenderloin was over done . my husband ordered a sirloin steak medium rare and got a thin piece of beef that would have been more appropriate for a steak and egg breakfast. However The nacho appetizer did not disappoint.

Great food and view of Baddeck Bay ?
We just came from Cabot Trail and had to find an open restaurant between 8-9PM. This was within our hotel (Silver Dart Lodge) so it was pretty convenient! They first served us with some bread and butter to start. We ordered the Chicken Parmesan (pasta) and the Nova Scotia Fisherman’s Stew (tomato garlic broth). Both were delicious! The stew had a bit of a kick and a tinge of curry taste, but it tasted good. Lots of seafood in the stew - mussels, salmon, haddock, clams, shrimp. The chicken parmesan breading was great, and went well with the pasta. Not bad for a late dinner!

The dining experience and food were about what you can expect from a resort style dining room. The dish pushing my food rating up was the bread pudding which was honestly the best bread pudding I have ever tasted. It comes with a very tasty scoop of vanilla icecream. I tried ordering bread pudding in other places but they were incomparable to this place's bread pudding. If you are in the area, at least try their bread pudding, you will not regret it.

Price performance is not right. I can cook better there. The photos you see don't match the food you get.

Located in the Silver Dart InnI really wanted to like this restaurant but I just couldn’t!We made reservations and had a wonderful table overlooking the lake. The view was spectacular. The Seafood chowder and biscuit was delicious but the spinach salad with chicken was horrible! My husband ordered a burger which th fries. The waiter brought Chicken Parmesan, when advised we didn’t order Chicken Parmesan he then put in the order for the burger and fries. But the time it arrived I had finished as much of the spinach salad as I could manage. When the bill came we had been charged for the Chicken Parmesan which was more than the burger! Yikes, call the waiter over again! The waiter felt bad and comped my husband’s burger but unfortunately the entire experience was very sadly lacking! We definitely won’t be returning to this restaurant!!!

We ate the buffet which was highly recommend by the waitress and it was awful. For paying $32 each we were very disappointed. We were the first ones there and the food was cold, pork was dry, muscles dry, desserts were store bought and tasteless. I thought I could eat $32 in desserts alone when I seen them displayed when we walked in, but it was very disappointing. Pound cake was dry, Nanaimo bars were like paste, pies were the texture of glue with no taste and the wine I had was terrible. A beer and wine was another $27. I will never go back again.

At the end of our 200 miles CAbot Trail ebike trip we congregated here, as this is where we spent our first night and left our cars. There was no buffet; i believe we were too late and it was closed down but they had a full menu. We all got typical breakfast fare - omelets, potatoes, bacon, sausage, coffee, and everything was spot on. No criticism whatsoever. I'm not a breakfast fan but this was as good as anywhere. Interesting "aviation forward" decor; apparently the Silver Dart was Canada's first airplane and Baddeck is essentially their Kitty Hawk.
It's a small place. Pretty cosy, and a panoramic view of the lake. Their menu changes so check it out before you go there. I had three items, wonton nachos, pork tenderloin with maple bacon jam, and the maple pecan bread pudding. Everything was amazing.I would also suggest getting a reservation before you come up. They only had three - four wait staff. Regardless, I sat down knowing I sat in the middle of a rush for them. And prepared mentally to wait. If you're in a rush in Cape Breton your gonna have a bad time. That being said, five mins and I made my drink order\food order, 7 mins later drink arrived, 5 mins later starter arrived, 10 min later main arrived.I feel everything was fairly priced, and was delicious. The nachos were crispy and spicy with a generous portion of chicken. Tenderloin was delicious with a hint of charcoal grill flavor wrapped with bacon and real Maple syrup. Fries were fresh and coated with herbs. I could have had a whole meal with either of the two honestly. Will be back during my next trip.

Hats Off to the Ladies for their Friendly Service... Buffet was Great (a little high priced but your paying for unlimited seafood, salad & desert so this one's worth the splurge). Macaroni Salad was great (not sourly made with miracle whip) Caesar Salad house dressing was Delicious but the salad was missing Croutons (also had to ask for them). Scallops in the Pasta were Huge! High Five. My Only Complaints -A. Carpet floors should be sticky swept between Customers when necessary (paying high prices for food I'd expect a clean floor at my table) B. Update the Online Menu (prices are fairly higher on the current menu vs. the website menu -some menu items have also changed and are no longer available).
Nice place for lunch. It's a buffet.
