“We loved the incredible helpful and upbeat staff. They knew we were from out of town and I explained we were there to search for seaglass and the immediately got a map and told me all of their secret locations. We ordered two breakfast sandwiches which were delicious. We were told how delicious their pop tarts were and they didnt lie, the lemon and boisen berry tarts were fabulous. If we're ever in Baddeck again we would most certainly stop in again...good luck on your opening day.”

“Shout out to all the staff at Tom’s, we are tourists in town for Festiville. They were absolutely slammed with orders, insane lineups, the place was sweltering hot…but they ran, with smiles on their faces and excellent customer service! Kudos to them for managing to stay positive in the heat and chaos! The food was amazing and well worth the wait!”

“We had a great experience here. The atmosphere was just right—quiet enough that we could easily have a conversation, but not so quiet that we felt like our family with kids had to whisper or worry about making a little noise. It was a comfortable, welcoming environment for everyone.

We ordered kids burger, Baddeck bacon burger and pan seared haddock. All the food was delicious!! Breton Brewing's Red Coat Irish Red Ale was so so good! Tara (server) was very nice with the kids. The live music was fantastic! Perfect place for dinner out. We'd definitely come back!”

“Hats Off to the Ladies for their Friendly Service... Buffet was Great (a little high priced but your paying for unlimited seafood, salad & desert so this one's worth the splurge). Macaroni Salad was great (not sourly made with miracle whip) Caesar Salad house dressing was Delicious but the salad was missing Croutons (also had to ask for them). Scallops in the Pasta were Huge! High Five. My Only Complaints -A. Carpet floors should be sticky swept between Customers when necessary (paying high prices for food I'd expect a clean floor at my table) B. Update the Online Menu (prices are fairly higher on the current menu vs. the website menu -some menu items have also changed and are no longer available).”

“I HAD THE SEAFOOD TRIO, IT WAS AMAZING, HADDOCK STUFFED WITH SCALLOPS AND SHRIMP IN A CREAMY DILL SAUCE SERVE ON A BED OF THE MOST AMAZING MASHED POTATOES. MY DINNER GUEST ENJOYED THE ROASTED CHICKEN IN A MUSHROOM SAUCE, SHE SAID SHE WOULD COME BACK TO HAVE IT AGAIN AS WOULD I. SERVICE WAS FRIENDLY AND FAST. OUR TABLE OVERLOOKED THE BRAS D'OR LAKES WHICH WAS TRULY BREATH TAKING.”

“A couple weeks ago we stopped in Baddeck on our way back to Sydney and had a dinner at the freight shed, it had been a couple years since our last visit, and we thought we’d give it a try. It was a lovely meal and we left very impressed. Today we were again driving back to Sydney and because my mother and aunt were visiting from away, we thought we’d stop for a nice meal. I can’t express how disappointed we were with our experience today. We started with muscles for the table, I had left to wash my hands and saw our mussels sitting on the service counter for delivery, and yet it took another 5 minutes after getting back to our table for them to be brought by the waiter. I know this because you have an open kitchen and I like watching food prep and service as I once worked at a restaurant myself. Understandably, when they were brought to our table, they were cold - the waiter brought them back to the kitchen where I watched them reheat them, overcooking the ones that were actually edible. Once we started eating them, at least a dozen were either cracked or not fully open, and as frequent mussel cookers ourselves, we know this means they are not safe to eat. The waiter apologized and took them from us. My aunt’s lobster roll came with hardly enough lobster to justify the price, my son’s fish tacos couldn’t have had more than 4 oz of fish between all three tacos and my mother’s halibut tasted awful - all you could taste was the bland egg wash - it was more like eating an omelette, unfortunately she did not enjoy any part of her meal. I lost my appetite so I took my Caesar salad to go. Sadly we all agreed that the best part of the meal actually was the Caesar salad. I wouldn’t have reached out to you after all of this, but tonight, while my daughter was eating my salad, she pulled a 2 inch black hair out of her salad. I’m sure you can appreciate your reputation for being an outstanding restaurant, and perhaps today was an off day for the kitchen, I would understand if it was a particularly busy day, we were there after 1pm, and there were plenty of empty tables, so I don’t think that can be used an a reason for this subpar experience.
