“Ordered a 16’ Ian’s Pizza. It was so very good! Staff was friendly and our pizza was delivered to our table in short order, piping hot, fresh and delicious. We’ll definitely be back.”
“This small cafe was a delight to stop at while driving the Cabot Trail. My husband and I purchased some egg sandwiches, muffins, and drinks - all were delicious (behind impressed with the quantity of bacon on the sandwich)! We would stop here again.”
“What a great atmosphere! It reminded me of some bistros in Europe. It was fantastic food that was cooked with skill and quality ingredients (they even have a sourdough bread option!). The photos don't even do it full justice. There was excellent service as well! I know some people mentioned the price, but being from Halifax, I thought the prices were what I would expect for a decent breakfast, and actually for the quality of food, it was excellent value!”
“At the end of our 200 miles CAbot Trail ebike trip we congregated here, as this is where we spent our first night and left our cars. There was no buffet; i believe we were too late and it was closed down but they had a full menu. We all got typical breakfast fare - omelets, potatoes, bacon, sausage, coffee, and everything was spot on. No criticism whatsoever. I'm not a breakfast fan but this was as good as anywhere. Interesting "aviation forward" decor; apparently the Silver Dart was Canada's first airplane and Baddeck is essentially their Kitty Hawk.”
“The reception lady was polite, and helpfull, with lots of information for us and other guest. The room was quaint, clean and suitable for our purpose. We found the bathroom quite small, but for a historic inn, that's to be expected. A full Buffet breakfast was included in the price, which was lovely.”
“The service was spot on, they even let me charge my phone after a 7 hour drive Food just a LITTLE pricey for me, with not huge portions, but I would come back for sure”
“Not great by any means. 4 flavors of ice cream left in stock on a hot sunny day. Friendly?, uhhhh noooo..will not return. Other folks ahead of us had same experience. Used to be a good spot. New owners perhaps? They've got lots to learn, or lose really fast unless changes are made !!!”
“Fast friendly service, fresh coffee, and clean. So happy you were near our campsite. We stopped by for our long drive in the morning before we hit the road for Lunenburg.”
“My husband and I brought our 2 boys to Cape Breton, we drove a long way from PEI. When we arrived it was already 19:00. Lakeside was one of the restaurants that was still open.We were greeted professionally and the overall services were good. We came near the end of season (we were told the restaurant would be temporarily closed one day after our dinner) so they did not offer everything in the menu. We ordered coconut shrimp and bacon-wrapped scallops as starters to share, followed by a sirloin steak, salmon and duck breast as mains. The food arrived gorgeously and they tasted good as well.Overall we had had a great dinner in lakeside and felt warmed with their services.”
“World Class Craft Beer, brewed right here in Nova Scotia. My favourite is the Kitchen Party Pale Ale (the one in the Yellow can), but you cannot go wrong with any of their options!”
