Located in the Silver Dart InnI really wanted to like this restaurant but I just couldn’t!We made reservations and had a wonderful table overlooking the lake. The view was spectacular. The Seafood chowder and biscuit was delicious but the spinach salad with chicken was horrible! My husband ordered a burger which th fries. The waiter brought Chicken Parmesan, when advised we didn’t order Chicken Parmesan he then put in the order for the burger and fries. But the time it arrived I had finished as much of the spinach salad as I could manage. When the bill came we had been charged for the Chicken Parmesan which was more than the burger! Yikes, call the waiter over again! The waiter felt bad and comped my husband’s burger but unfortunately the entire experience was very sadly lacking! We definitely won’t be returning to this restaurant!!!

We ate the buffet which was highly recommend by the waitress and it was awful. For paying $32 each we were very disappointed. We were the first ones there and the food was cold, pork was dry, muscles dry, desserts were store bought and tasteless. I thought I could eat $32 in desserts alone when I seen them displayed when we walked in, but it was very disappointing. Pound cake was dry, Nanaimo bars were like paste, pies were the texture of glue with no taste and the wine I had was terrible. A beer and wine was another $27. I will never go back again.

At the end of our 200 miles CAbot Trail ebike trip we congregated here, as this is where we spent our first night and left our cars. There was no buffet; i believe we were too late and it was closed down but they had a full menu. We all got typical breakfast fare - omelets, potatoes, bacon, sausage, coffee, and everything was spot on. No criticism whatsoever. I'm not a breakfast fan but this was as good as anywhere. Interesting "aviation forward" decor; apparently the Silver Dart was Canada's first airplane and Baddeck is essentially their Kitty Hawk.

It's a small place. Pretty cosy, and a panoramic view of the lake. Their menu changes so check it out before you go there. I had three items, wonton nachos, pork tenderloin with maple bacon jam, and the maple pecan bread pudding. Everything was amazing.I would also suggest getting a reservation before you come up. They only had three - four wait staff. Regardless, I sat down knowing I sat in the middle of a rush for them. And prepared mentally to wait. If you're in a rush in Cape Breton your gonna have a bad time. That being said, five mins and I made my drink order\food order, 7 mins later drink arrived, 5 mins later starter arrived, 10 min later main arrived.I feel everything was fairly priced, and was delicious. The nachos were crispy and spicy with a generous portion of chicken. Tenderloin was delicious with a hint of charcoal grill flavor wrapped with bacon and real Maple syrup. Fries were fresh and coated with herbs. I could have had a whole meal with either of the two honestly. Will be back during my next trip.

Hats Off to the Ladies for their Friendly Service... Buffet was Great (a little high priced but your paying for unlimited seafood, salad & desert so this one's worth the splurge). Macaroni Salad was great (not sourly made with miracle whip) Caesar Salad house dressing was Delicious but the salad was missing Croutons (also had to ask for them). Scallops in the Pasta were Huge! High Five. My Only Complaints -A. Carpet floors should be sticky swept between Customers when necessary (paying high prices for food I'd expect a clean floor at my table) B. Update the Online Menu (prices are fairly higher on the current menu vs. the website menu -some menu items have also changed and are no longer available).

The McCurdy's dining room is located at the Silver Dart Lodge. Very convenient if staying there. Enjoyed a light dinner that was very good.

Found the bad egg in Baddeck! The dinner was absolutely horrendous. The seafood stew didn't provide any sauce, bouillon or other moisture, just dried up mussels, scallops and fish, either yesterday's or the cook threw out the stew and then heated it up. Served on a solid blob of rice, which wasn't mentioned on the menu. The menu said all dished were served with a choice fries, rice etc. But we were charged for the extra fries we had to order since the stew didn't mention the rice. For fear of intoxication, unable to eat it.I got a fish and chips, which was fried a dark brown, no lemon slice, the sauce and side of mayonnaise was not good. Ate the fish as it appeared fresh. So that's one star, congrats. The draft beer wasn't to our taste at all (sour, opaque, dark colored IPA). Maybe that's not the restaurant's problem but the they could advise.Service was abysmal.

We stayed to Silver Dart Lodge for the night and was heading to nearby famous seafood restaurants for dinner. The wait was too long (45~60 minutes to get seated), so we dined at this restaurant instead. Food choices and quality is average, BUT the exceptional, kind services from server (Bev) made the dining experience memorable.

We generally liked the Silver Dart for the quiet and reasonably priced accomodations, but the breakfast was sub-standard. No a la carte was available. The buffet was $20 and for that one expects more than powdered scrambled eggs and stale fried potatoes. No choice of meats (only bacon). Only plain white or brown bread and some muffins, no pastry. Coffee was watery. Only apple juice. No cheeses, no butter, only margarine.

Breakfast buffet would have been better with fresh food

If you go to Baddeck and don’t go there ! You’re missing out on a great dinner. Plus you have a great views . Cesar salade + Fettucini Lobster +Hamburger were excellent, better than everything we had around and fairly price (Freight Shed “OK” but overprice and Bell Buoy Bistro “average” and small portion.

Our group enjoyed our reasonably priced meals at this restaurant with a beautiful water view. Highland Toss, which was with a what they called Thai sauce, was a delicious stir fry with rice. Other meals our group enjoyed were the Seafood Fettuccine and the burgers. They didn’t have beer on tap, but had a nice selection of Nova Scotia beers in cans. Waiter PJ was great and the food came quickly. I would recommend this restaurant.
