Club sandwich was good but was disappointed with frozen fries. Seafood chowder made my partner sick a few hours later. Pie was good but obviously not homemade...
Service was slow..
Disappointing experienced overall.

Homey, tasty inexpensive food, good service from the friendly staff. Breakfast was nice (great pancakes) and we took some pie for the road and both slices were generous (mine lasted across two meals) and yummy.

Kid-friendliness: Very kid-friendly from what I could see (several families eating there comfortably, kid's menu)

Popped in here actually to use the washroom and grab a quick snack. The place was PACKED. A good sign. Next thing you know, Joan spied the chocolate cake with boiled icing. I saw that they had seafood chowder. We grabbed a couple of seats right at the counter. BEST PITSTOP EVER! They are seasonal, and only open until October 20th. From where we were sitting, we could see all of the gorgeous looking homemade meals come out. I almost wanted to ask them to stop so I could take photos ?
The cake was sooo moist, melted in your mouth, and the icing brought me right back to Ma’s kitchen. The seafood chowder was served piping hot, with a MOUND of seafood. Haddock, scallops, lobster, perfectly seasoned. A warm homemade bun and a warm tea biscuit came with it. I was soooo happily full. The rest of the menu looked incredible. The servers were very friendly and proud to be serving such delicious, well presented, homemade food. Excellent service. We got some oat cakes and plum pudding to go, and a small spinach salad with homemade maple dressing. The prices are right too. And it’s perched on a hill overlooking the scenic Seal Island Bridge and Kelly’s Mountain. Highly recommended ⭐️
Thank you Cedar House Bakery and Restaurant …. we WILL be back! ❤️

Kid-friendliness: Excellent kid’s menu and applies to little appetites too!

Place was crowded on a sturday at around 18h. Service was fast and friendly. I think I had the best seafood chowder I've had on my entire week long trip to Nova Scotia wich I've ordered about every days for 4 days in 3 different restaurants. The pan fried fish was excellent but I wished they'd served home made tartar sauce instead of the craft ones.
It's also a bakery and their cookies tasted great. They also sell books about cape breton.

Outstanding breakfast! Oatmeal bread toast is delicious. Service and atmosphere are great. They were very happy to redo my two poached eggs that came out a little harder than I was looking for, no questions asked/totally understood — great example of how customer oriented they are. Beautiful location.

I had the lobster sandwich and my wife had the seafood dish. Both very good. We couldn't leave without the oak cakes and bread.

Kid-friendliness: The place isn't particularly designed for kids, but our server was very kind and engaged with our 3 year-old daughter. She was a bit noisy while we were there but the atmosphere was good for it.

I had an awesome breakfast today at the Cedar House, and they made a substitution to accommodate my vegetarian diet. Meat was swapped out for beans. Thank you for offering an option that is meat free! Not enough restaurants do this. I’ll be back!
