My child brought me there to make up for the missed Thanksgiving dinner. It was a festive synesthesia that stimulated our multiple senses. The art of cooking combined with a skilled hostess sharing formed a warm and pleasant memories despite the dark, cold and windy evening.

Hands down the best meal I've had in Nova Scotia. Simply amazing across the board. And now with the new booking system you don't need to know someone to get a reservation. Susan and David are rockstars covering front and back of house like champions. Can't wait to go again.

We had a phenomenal meal at Bessie North House last Friday.David’s food was absolute perfection and Susan as host made the evening. She took us on a journey with every dish; each ingredient had a story and the name of the farmer the next town over it came from. They are obsessed with food in the very best way, like spending the winter perfecting a recipe for crackers (which they knocked out of the park). This is definitely a Top 10 best ever dining experience for us. How lucky we are to have this gem at our doorstep!

I was fortunate enough to have the chance to dine at Bessie North last Saturday after being on a waitlist most of the year. So when I got an email that a spot had opened up I was beyond excited.Farm-to-table, fine dining tasting menus are far and few in Nova Scotia, so any chance to try one that is highly recommended, I had to jump at, and so should you. Bessie North certainly lived up to the hype in my opinion. Every dish was absolutely delicious, and none of them lacked amazing flavor or creativity, which is a tough thing to do in a 7-course meal.Having dined at a few Michelin star restaurants in Toronto, Vancouver and Europe, I would say Bessie North was as good or better then most of those restaurants I had dined at. This spot is truly a NS gem and they deserve all the praise they have been getting. I will 100% be back again. As a final note, I should mention Susan & Dave were beyond friendly and made you feel welcome in their home as soon as you walked in. You could definitely tell how much they both cared about the food and dining experience. Which I think is part of the reason that Bessie North has been such a hit.

Every bit of this meal was perfectly crafted. I don’t like mushrooms at all and somehow the 2 dishes with high mushroom content were incredible and I loved them. Very cool atmosphere here, I can’t wait to come back, one of the finest dining experiences I’ve ever been a part of. Truly delicious.

Wow! Could this year’s dinner top last year? Perhaps! The evening was superb from start to finish. Hard to choose a favourite course.. but why would you… all amazing. Thank you Susan & Chef David…. What a team you are! Happy to hear there is no Ketchup in your kitchen 🤣. See you next year!
Well done. Not the food. The experience. I felt like I was eating art. Art for my palette! I’ll be back! Thank you ☺️

Great farm to table concept… but for $150 per person you leave hungry and underwhelmed. It’s a good opportunity to see how fresh your food can be, but I felt like some of the dishes were hit (yummy sourdough bread but with bland butter or the tender asparagus or the seed cracker paired with a yummy apple rhubarb compote and very nicely fluffy cake) or miss (weirdly sweet dashi broth for halibut or overcooked sous vide chicken (it was almost paste-y) or the warm undercooked pasta (tortellini?)).It’s fun to hear where the food comes from but that doesn’t make the food more delicious or worth more $$. It’s very hard to get a seat here but I’m not sure if it is worth it to come back. I might not be the right customer base. If you are someone who has $$ and appreciates having food come from a neighbour’s farm or foraged in the woods more than texture or flavour then come here. Maybe food is better is a different season
Amazing food…fantastic host…will not be disappointed! Make sure to take in this amazing dinning experience. Well worth the travels and cost. Will be visiting again.

Just got home and have to say that, everybody who told me about how great this place is, did not under sell it. Amazing food, unbelievable service. Highly recommended
David and Susan put on an extraordinary dinner experience. We were there on Friday, November 4, 2022 and went with high expectations and it was far exceeded. David did an amazing preparation of the food for taste and appearance, and Susan did a fantastic job with the service and explaining each course. They don't need the positive reviews because good luck getting in... Very cool spot with only 12 dining per night. - Thanks from Doran & Laura
