We live In Canning and order here.. ALOT. If I had one message for the Team, this would be it..
A. If your fries are still Frozen .. don't offer Poutine. Because even if asked to be well done fries , they still end up uncooked and starchy in the middle , and we feel bad deciding on how often we should be calling in to complain about it ( My GF is obsessed with poutine for lunch , but recently started ordering later in the day to make sure that the fries were thawed out before they went in the fryer . )

B. If you don't have your own gravy in stock , Don't offer poutine ! The canned gravy or whatever it is that you get from the shelf or from Sam's is far too watery and lacks flavour, and just generally makes the whole thing a sad gravy soup .

I don't like poutine , this is coming from the man of a lady who loves poutine that has been frustrated as of late . Don't get me wrong , the odd good poutine keeps her trying her luck , but as of lately it has not been in her favor .

I have had many burgers and a few cheesesteaks from here that were all a solid 5-6 out of 10 . ( when you consider the fortune you need to pay for them ) . This is a valley standard I guess.. I work in Halifax 5 days a week so for me to judge based on what I can get in the HRM to bring home for dinner might be unfair to some of the locals.

I think there is room for much improvement.

Trying to be a healthy critic .

My partner has a deadly allergy to soy and peanuts, and we asked the owner if there was any soy protein in the cheesesteak meat. The ingredient list was not on the box, but he took 20 minutes calling his associate and also his supplier and went above and beyond to make sure no soy was used in the ingredients. Ended up liking the food, as well as everyone working there, and coming back twice in a short trip to Cape Split a few years ago. Turns out the meat was ordered frozen to ensure the beef strips were Philly style. No soy protein or cheap preservatives, cooked on the grill for each sub. Highly recommend !

Not the real Slim Shady

Food had an off putting taste to it. Not sure how to explain it could possibly be a dirty grill

I went to this location based on all the reviews. It had been a long day and I made the trip out believing the reviews.

I strongly question the ability of management in operating this restaurant. I arrived during business hours (weekend) and there was no one working. The advertised time to close was 9:00 pm. There was no sign on the entrance door, restaurant areas like the counter and nothing posted online about the closure. The restaurant hadn’t appeared to have been open all day. The overall cleanliness was mediocre at best.

A kind lady working the gas bar told me that they weren’t open and she doesn’t have anything to do with the restaurant side of things.

Should you support this business? This restaurant may or may not be open when you arrive. If you don’t mind wasting gas and working out a secondary plan for dinner- I wish you all the luck.

This was a horrible experience, made the trip to their location only to find that out was not open 2 hours before they were supposed to closed. So then we had to find another place that was open at that hour. It was a waste of gas and time.

Lives up to the hype!

Recommend the Ragin’ Bull - a burger with pulled pork and bacon. How could you go wrong?

Drive a bit further to the Bruce Spicer Park to eat. The perfect afternoon!

The food was good and they have a great selection to choose from. The service was good too, very polite, informative, and accommodating. The atmosphere isn't anything to write home about, but then again, it is inside a gas station, so what else can you expect lol. There were some seats though, which was a pleasant surprise. All in all we were happy to stumble across is on our drive through and very satisfied with our orders

Tastes great, good portion, solid ingredients.

Gone here a handful of times over the years. Great place to stop if you're on a motorcycle.
Just be sure to grab a few napkins.

I've been here many times since last year. Food is ok, but the atmosphere is bad since the staff totally changed. It’s no longer worth going.

Had an awesome experience at this location. Had a terrible experience at the Sydney location. Would highly recommend Philthy Phills in Canning. The staff went way out of their way to accommodate me and I can say with confidence that they understand how to properly LAYER a poutine so that all the good stuff isn't just on top where it's visible. You definitely get your moneys worth here. Please, please support this location and take note of how customer service should be done.

Their food is good. it's a nice little spot in Canning. I knocked off a couple stars because the atmosphere isn't the same since a guy named John is no longer there. He always gave the customers personal touch with their purchases and added to the atmosphere.
