The Stretch Diner Reviews
What a pleasant surprise this place was. Great food and service. Came in last night at 6:30 and it was close to closing time but they found us a table on a busy night and we were out of there by 7. Highly recommend the hot turkey sandwich and the hand cut fries were incredible.
Fish was cooked perfectly and delicious , server Trudy made the dining experience do much fun
After seeing the plates of deep fried clams and fish and chips on their Facebook page, we decided to drop in and give the Stretch Diner a go! The meal was simply delicious! We shared the clam and fish and chip combo…very generous serving, perfectly cooked with fantastic homemade coleslaw and tartar sauce. Friendly, helpful wait staff too! Definitely 10 out of 10, plus there is a Senior’s Discount!

The Stretch Diner offers a variety of dishes, with notable mentions for their fish and chips, featuring a crispy, light batter and hand-cut chips. The diner has a retro feel, reminiscent of the 50s, creating a charming atmosphere. The food is delicious, and the coffee is highly praised, with friendly and attentive service from the new owners who have recently taken over. Customers enjoy a full breakfast with crispy bacon and all the extras, as well as breakfast sandwiches for under $7. The diner is well-liked for its generous portions, especially the clam and chips, which are described as the best clams ever with just the right batter and little grease. The fish and chips are considered some of the best in NS, with a non-greasy batter and homemade tartar sauce. Poutine is popular, and the spring rolls are light and perfectly cooked with a slight spice. Pan-fried scallops are also well-prepared. While the restaurant was cold during a visit, the food remains surprisingly good. Some customers mention the freshness of the fish and homemade coleslaw, though there have been concerns about cleanliness and the quality of certain meats in some dishes. Overall, The Stretch Diner provides a friendly, welcoming experience with tasty food, especially for those craving fish and chips or breakfast.
