🙌THE FIRST REVIEW: Ok, I suppose that Kismet was one of the Halifax's pearls... But, from person who was there for the first time... I don't know.... The desert was terribly...cheap 😒 Sorry, guys, that's true. I'm not complaining, just don't serve the desert if you don't know how to do that.

Wonderful little restaurant. Great service and relaxed yet refined vibe.
Now food wise - it’s pretty special. The tonnato in particular was excellent. 10/10. And I’m still thinking about that green salad with the manchego.
I must say: I’m not usually one to make fun of the girl who takes a risk and puts herself out there creatively. But when you’re trying to push the envelope like this, there are bound to be some flops.
The char dish in particular made me sad… a beautiful piece of fish swimming on an unfortunate thick bed of Nutella. Tuna tartare was OK but needed acid.
Overall, you can tell there’s a lot of love in what they do here. I’ll be back to try more menu items and I’m excited to see what else they pull out of their magic hat.

Lots of greenery that created a charming lightly forested vibe with indoor and outdoor seating. From the menu the main highlight was the tonnato melt that was very flavourful, the other dishes were more average but still tasty.

Excellent restaurant with a beautiful terrace and delicious food. I've been there for dinner early with my kids , and we really enjoyed the experience.
I’m really disappointed. This place came really highly recommended but the service was really poor and disrespectful, and I left feeling awful. Our server Emma didn’t put me at ease about whether or not one of their drinks was safe for me with my dietary restriction, she made passive aggressive comments to me after I didn’t drink it and gave it to my friend, and later ignored me and wouldn’t engage me for the rest of the meal. My friends noticed that she would only look at and talk to everyone but me for the rest of the meal and it made for a really uncomfortable and disrespectful experience.

Tuna tartare was the best I've had, and I've had many. The char was a solid choice if you like nutty sauces and Bok Choy. Raw scallop was nice. The Seabuckthorn cocktail was smooth and fruity. The meringue dessert was a bit disappointing. The solid meringue wafer makes it difficult to eat in a small cup, would be better if it was smaller pieces. It was also just not that interesting compared to the rest of the meal. Service was friendly and helpful for wine recommendations for my dishes. Retro music was great for the vibe.

It’s rare to have a meal where every single dish hits - but Bar Kismet delivered. The freshness of the ingredients, the ingenuity of plates, and the complexity of flavors is unmatched. We had an incredible time sitting at the bar and will return every time we’re in Halifax.

We came in to the restaurant after much anticipation as it was highly recommended by friends. Bad service. Told the server it’s our first time here, no comment - not even a welcome. Nothing on the menu is either gluten free or lactose free, except oysters. I travel a lot and expect some level of service for a place that is pretentious. If your chef can’t cook without lactose, he / she isn’t very innovative! The wine they served was rated 3.4 on vivino and retails for $18 a bottle. Wow! Scam of a place!
