My partner and I visited this restaurant for lunch just this past Saturday and from the beginning it seemed like such a lovely diner. For the positives both of our meals were tasty. I had the chicken and waffles, my partner had the skillet. Both were good. However, the service quite literally was the worst we’ve ever had. Our server, she didn’t tell us her name, appeared to be under the influence of something……while working. She showed us to our table, didn’t introduce herself and was heavily slurring her words and stumbling. She took our order and returned 15 mins later with our coffee/drinks and proceeded to knock an entire glass of iced coffee into my lap, completely soaking my pants in coffee. All she said was “oops.” I understand mistakes happen, but I wasn’t even offered any paper towels to clean up so I went to the bathroom and did my best to clean up and my partner cleaned the table mostly by himself. The server just brought napkins for us to clean. Another server brought us our food and we had to ask her for new drinks because our original server was no where to be found. Our server then stumbled to our table as we took our first bite of food, slammed a bill onto our table and glared at us. I asked her “is there something you need” and she said “didnt you ask for this?” Referring to the bill and we said no….and then she seemed really confused and walked away. We never had anyone check on us once and we overheard other tables nearby also becoming frustrated because they had the same server we did which was no where to be found. We finished our food, waited 30 mins for anyone to come to us. We gave up and walked to the front to pay our bill. We informed another server of our concerns with our server and the service to which she apologized and said “ya I’m not sure what’s wrong with her, I’ll go check on her.” This whole experience was just horrible, which is so unfortunate because the food was good, but I can’t justify returning with service like that.

came here for a late brunch, was sat quickly despite it being very busy. staff were friendly and polite and helpful. the food was amazing, the house hash was phenomenal. highly recommend stopping in for a meal when in the area!

Told them I have an onion intolerance and didn't want onions in my hash browns they said they can exchange it for French fries and proceeded to bring me out French fries with onions all over them. They do not take allergies serious.

Cheeky Neighbour is the cheekiest hidden brunch spot in Halifax. We waited 30 minutes since it was so busy (rightfully so!) and it was WELL worth the wait. I had the most magical brunch of my life. We ordered a brunch skillet, salmon potato waffle, their carnivore eggs benny, and their ‘Sweet Treat’ (which changes every day and we got Apple Crisp Croissant Waffles!) The food was immaculate: caramelised onions on breakfast potatoes, perfectly runny eggs, buttery flaky croissant waffles. The place is so well-decorated: pop art on the walls, diner-esque kitchen window. I wish I was back there this morning! I’ll be coming back for sure. Such a sweet Halifax memory for my girls trip.
