Excellent food. I had the Bao Buns to start followed by the Halibut and finally the Raspberry Buttermilk Cake. All were excellent and our waiter Phil was amazing! We come here seasonally and the food and service are always top-tier!

The espresso martini is exquisite. The charcuterie is one of the best in the city, the Brussels sprouts are also to die for. And they offer buck a shuck oysters on happy hour!

Here for happy hour on a weekday. Not too busy. Buck-a-shuck oysters with any food order is a fantastic deal. Quality oysters from PEI on this day. The Argentinian can sauv paired well with their yummy pork belly!

I have usually had very good experiences at Eliot and Vine but not last Friday April 5th. I had the special hamburger with fries. The hamburger was overcooked and dry and not hot. The fries were warm at the best. In addition the service was very slow — probably waited 15-20 minutes between finishing the starters and main course. The restaurant was not full, rather 70% or so occupied. We had two glasses of wine and one beer and one cider. My guest had oysters to start and short rib for the main. We shared a tort for dessert. The total bill + tax was $208.62. In conclusion we did not get value for our money. Very unusual for Eliot and Vine.

Overpriced & Underwhelming – Won’t Be Back

I had high hopes for Elliot & Vine, but the experience was a letdown from start to finish. I ordered six oysters as an appetizer at $4 each, expecting quality. Instead, two were so tiny they were barely bigger than my fingernail—an absolute ripoff. The sauces were uninspired, and when I mentioned the issue to the server, I was met with defensiveness instead of any attempt to address the concern. No apology, no acknowledgment—just indifference.

The main courses didn’t improve things. My haddock was fine, but completely forgettable, and my partner’s veal was tough and disappointing. For the prices they charge, I expected better ingredients, better execution, and better service—but none of that was delivered.

Halifax has a fantastic food scene, and I’ve had way better oysters and dining experiences elsewhere—including just last week at The Bicycle Thief, where the oysters were plump, fresh, and properly portioned. Elliot & Vine, on the other hand, feels like a place that’s coasting on atmosphere while serving overpriced, underwhelming food. I won’t be back.

This place did not disappoint during Valentine's day service. Food, service, and atmosphere were honestly all pretty top notch, I can't wait to come back here to try some more items. Too bad that the dim lighting makes the pictures of your food look extremely unappealing, but trust me people, that's not the case.

Came in an hour before closing , server was very quick to tell us the kitchen is closed and just stood there expecting us to leave. We didn’t come for food, We just wanted a cocktail , hesitantly he sat us. And was agitated the whole time we were there. Couldn’t wait for us to leave.

Excellent food & service here. They make an effort, make you feel welcome, and treat you like a luxury client.

Everything was delicious, Halibut highly recommended, second favorite gnocchi and third, pasta cacio e pepe. Everything we had was done to perfection. Will be back soon!

Good food and good service. The sauce on the rib steak was a bit too salty and had a heartburn later, though. For a special occasion it’s a good place as the price is on the higher end. We were happy except for two things: 1. They ask for the minimum of 18% for the tip and ask for $5 more for the kitchen when you pay. 15% of the total is already quite high and they should not ask for higher than that unless you manually enter the amount…the other way around. 2. The dessert menu was not available. So, you just have to decide on your choice based on what the waiter tells you. We want to see the ingredients! It was disappointing to see the caramel sauce on the pumpkin cake. We would have enjoyed it if it came with a scoop of ice cream.

Food was amazing. Had a great bottle of wine, pasta and the pistachio crème brûlée was super good.

Came here on a busy Saturday evening with a reservation made in advance. Service was impeccable; very attentive and pleasant. The food was full of flavour and the portions were filling. We started with a charcuterie board along with a bottle of wine. For mains, we decided on haddock and chicken for our proteins. The haddock had the perfect crispy breading, served on top of a tarragon remoulade with crispy potatoes.
The chicken had a couscous filling served on top of flavourful chorizo cream along with potatoes.
Looking forward to trying the dessert next visit !
