Fredie's Fantastic Fish House

Fried clams used to be a staple in Nova Scotia restaurants, but I had to Google “clam restaurant “ to find Fredie’s Fantastic Seafood Restaurant. It’s tucked away in the middle of Bayers Lake Shopping District. It’s miles from the water, but is more like a lobster shack than a restaurant. I didn’t give it any score on ambience…I came for the clams.

My son and I had a selection of lobster rolls, chowder, fish and clams and chips. Everything was excellent…the lobster rolls were stuffed with lobster, the chowed was loaded with goodies, the fish had a golden crispy batter, and the clams were delicious (whole clams, not pieces).

The food was very tasty and served promptly with all the necessary condiments. Definitely worth a return visit.

Food has gone downhill. Fish was soggy and flavourless and the newfie fries upgrade was tiny.

paid $49 for two small meals, and honestly the portions were disappointing for the price. On top of that, I found a fish bone in my food, which was unpleasant. The tables also weren’t very clean and I noticed some flies inside. I really hope the restaurant can improve, because the food itself had potential

Amazing seafood, friendly staff... lobster rolls was on point! Highly recommend this place while you traveling or even if you're from Halifax.

This place was an incredible find! The food was immaculate and the staff are extremely polite, helpful and super nice! Natilie was great and ensured we were well taken care of! Had the lobster roll with the special sauce and I’d go back tomorrow to get it again! Highly recommend

Well come here today august 9th and usually I come here once a year last year it was great this year you pay 25$ for clams and chips u get like 10 clams and a few frys and its definitely not the same as it use to be im very very disappointed in this place the serving of food should be way bigger the plate was so small its a sin the coleslaw taste like it was made a week ago the restaurant has flys flying around very dirty atmosphere the chairs arent ment for bigger people the lights above the table hasn't been cleaned in a while all around very disappointed last year was so much better for the quality of food and the portions I dont know what happen to it not to mention the false advertisements they have on there menu u only get like 10 clams and a couple frys for 30$ what a joke of a place

I’ve been coming to Freddie’s for quite a while. The food has always been top notch. The staff are wonderful. I would highly recommend this establishment to all.

My family and I tried Fredie's Fantastic Fish House on our first day of vaccation and I have to admit that it was disappointing. I should say that it was late when we got there and they were doing the final cleaning for the day however the food was not fresh at all, over fried and oily.

This place has fell off from what it used to be years ago.

Read the reviews and got the fish and chips and chowder, fish batter was thicker and greasier than I expected, but still good. Chowder was okay, lots of potato and carrots, little bits of salmon, one scallop. Prices are decent

Ordered via uber eats. Lobster roll was delicious and tasted great (I asked for light mayo). However I would have preferred a buttered bun, but the brioche bun was nice.
