Ugh
As I say live and learn. One sandwich maker at lunch time. Wow
Who never changed his gloves between sandwiches. But at least he was wearing gloves. I hope the homeless guy enjoy the sandwich...
I really like the vibe of this place, they have great assorted chocolates, pastas and sauces. I love buying pasta from them.
Good selection. I’d recommended matching the prices shown to what you charge me in the future. And if I say that your display price is wrong, you own to the mistake, rather than say ‘There’s nothing I can do’ and refuse to sell for the price shown. Maybe you could update the prices? First time I’ve ever had the establishment refuse to acknowledge their mistake.
Pretty poor service that.
Great food, amazing coffee, excellent service.
Amazing Italian market and restaurant. Don't sleep on the real locally-made burrata! Cannoli and pasta and espresso and chicken Parm all have been amazing. I just wish they'd have an outdoor patio year-round to have amazing meals outdoors.
Consistent high quality food and pantry items, plus knowledgeable and friendly staff. It's a great go-to place. And, after a recent injury, much appreciation for putting together some favourites for me for delivery. Thank you.
We are so happy this market exists, here in Halifax. The food and groceries are of the highest quality and delicious. Bravo!
Love the food here. Great authentic Italian meals. Excellent service. Owner is usually on site.
Amazing coffee!
Best double express in Halifax!
I love this place! Great sandwiches, salad, tiramisu and cakes. And great pantry section to shop too.

A business that I want to support because of the unique variety of products and identity, but cannot justify supporting often because of the owners frequent operational mismanagement.
I wanted a sandwich yesterday and decided upon Italian Market, where I witnessed several members of a subcontracted painting crew rolling / cutting grey field paint onto the walls directly above most of the customer facing food prep stations during the peak of lunch hour.
I noticed the owner hurrying through the business and explained why I would not be purchasing a sandwich as planned (due to the painting happening above the food) - the owner justified the importance of multi tasking during the food service period and stated the painting at this time was necessary, not regarding that it was an effect of poor business planning and was an inappropriate choice from a food health and safety perspective.
I was there today and had the most unpleasant experience. Sat down to dine-in and placed an order. Waitress was extremely lukewarm. After placing the order I sat there for a while, she did not even offer a cup of water. Soon after a man walks in for dine-in service as well. She takes his order and after some time serves him (she had also brought him water almost immediately after he placed his order), I was still without my order at this point. I flagged another server who said my order was on it's way. Mind you i never got any water from start to finish of the process. My order came soon after, however I was already feeling rather uneasy, wondering why someone who ordered well after I did received his order before me. I asked my waitress about this and she then looked at me and walked away!! I was stunned. Her colleague, an Indian woman jumped in and tried to offer up an explanation. I felt so insulted and said I would follow-up with the manager. I was about to proceed with my meal and then decided against because i was so traumatized so I just got up and walked right out. Food is about energy and clients want to be treated with dignity more than anything. The Indian woman and the manager came outside after me. I told the manager what happened and said I can't help but wonder if it's discriminatory service. I am a black hijab wearing woman. He felt bad I.could tell and asked if would come in and enjoy the meal, but I simply could not after that. I told the manager that the Indian lady handled matters very professionally. All I hoped.for was a little bit of respect. it did not have to go down like that. The waitress did not have to walk away and insult me after I asked her a simple question. Even a client who was seated beside me said she was sorry that I could not eat the meal. I said that I too was disappointed. The short of this story is that the employee treated me horribly and acted as if I was nothing. The only reason I went there in the first place was because the menu was appealing. The manager mentioned that the rude employee was sick... still not a reason to mistreat customers. I have worked in many customer service roles and I was on the frontlines during covid. Not once did I insult, ignore or mistreat a client. If she does not want the work she can quit. She is a disservice to the business and is causing them to lose clients
Chef abod, osmows, bread lounge and so many other cafes are right in the area and I've always had exceptional service at these places. I will limit my review to this page as opposed to sharing on my social media platforms for the owner's sake. I do wish that that employee would get a reality check and understand that food is all about energy as is customer service. People want to spend their hard earned money where they feel respected. Moreover I think she needs some DEI training because I can't help but wonder if I were white and male if the treatment would be the same. The other client I spoke of who came in after me and was served before me is probably a confirmation of my speculation. He was obviously way better treated than I was and is a white male. The waitress lacks interpersonal and social skills and should be working in a solitary role. The whole event really destabilized me and I had to spend the rest of the afternoon realigning my energy. I hope she's put to work in the backroom.
Highly disappointed. I feel scammed.
First time at this establishment and I loved it. Had the Prosciutto and soup of the day. Great staff and atmosphere 5 stars.
It can be hard to find farro in Halifax but it’s easy to find it here! Will definitely be coming back.
