I’m so happy that Kanpai Izakaya is now in Halifax! I used to dine at their Moncton location multiple times because their food was always consistently delicious — and I’m glad to say nothing has changed. The flavours, quality, and presentation are still top-notch.
It feels like a familiar favourite found a new home, and I couldn’t be more excited. Me and my boyfriend will definitely be dining with them again the next time we visit Halifax.

This izakaya is supurb. The Salmon watayaki is smoked to perfection. Also recommend oden nabe, karaage chicken and agedashi tofu.
Genmai tea here is better than other as well.

Where do I start? The beginning I guess. Came here to have food, which is something you eat. I got some squid, eel and ribs. All were top notch.
Then a wild buffalo appeared telling me my father has been resurrected from the dead. That's when I realized the mushrooms kicked in, so I had to go lie down.
Either way it was a good trip. Would go again, but probably only do edibles next time.
