Rebranding as Kempster's Cookhouse was a smart move - place feels revitalized and the new menu is attractive. Went for breakfast and had the brisket eggs benny; really enjoyable with generous portions and quality, juicy brisket. Hollandaise sauce is on point. I would have went the full five stars if the home fries were more memorable. Service here is always great though; the staff are very friendly and good to carry on with. I had a nice conversation with one of the servers about old music stores in the Halifax area - made the experience more personable as opposed to a 'get you in, get you out' philosophy. I feel like Kempster's is a great example of a locally owned (non-chain) restaurant that still values down-home customer service.

I go here for brunch on a regular basis and normally order something from the breakfast menu. I was out with another group tonight for supper and I decided to order the French dip cheesesteak. I managed to eat less than half of it. The meat was sliced too thick, there was very little of the veggie mix on it, the Swiss cheese that was mentioned on the menu was not real Swiss cheese, it was too orange. As a result of this review I was told that the French dip was taken off the menu for a few days so they could change the way it was made. Thank you to Kempsters for being attentive to reviews and making needed changes.

For diner food it is normally quite good. If something isn't quite right, they will gladly fix it. The friendly and personable staff are extraordinary, and they work hard and quickly. I've had breakfast, brunch, and lunch here many times. It's our goto spot with two close friends.

Overall eating at Kempsters is a positive experience. I enjoyed the BBQ brisket eggs Benedict. My partner had the steaks and eggs. The eggs unfortunately where not cooked enough and the steak cooked too much. Asked for medium rare. It was more medium well done. We still very much enjoyed our meal and time at Kempsters. Great restaurant if your are looking for family vibes and a local hot spot.

I was picking up a few orders from here and let's just say this place was packed on a Friday afternoon. The staff was amazing and the aromas of the food was awesome. I never knew Kempster's was a go to spot know I do.
Clubhouse was great. Staff super friendly. I'll be back.

Stopped in for breakfast at Kempster’s and it totally hit the spot. I had the Senior’s Special, the home fries were perfectly crispy, the egg was cooked just right, and the grilled bologna was so good. My wife had the breakfast quesadilla and loved it!! It lots of flavor and they even customized it to her liking. The coffee was hot, service was fast and friendly, and the whole vibe was cozy and relaxed. Definitely one of those classic local spots that never disappoints. We love Carol, she wasn’t our server this time but she’s served us a few times in the past. Kyla was our server today and she was lovely!
