Two years ago, I ate at Kyo and unfortunately got sick afterward. I decided to give it another chance recently and went with colleagues. Sadly, I had the same experience — I became ill later that evening. The next morning, I checked in with a colleague who had joined me, and she was also experiencing stomach cramps. This raises concerns that the fish may not be fresh. Unfortunately, I will not be returning.

The black pepper beef dish I had was good, but not what I would try next time. The pork dish my daughter had was a hit with her.

Great spot for Izakaya and small bites. My wife loved the cocktails. The live jazz trio on Saturday evenings is very good too. We'll be back

Server was awful.
The lady at the bar was incredibly rude! I do not recommend this bar. Go literally anywhere else

I LOVE this place. The cocktails are amazing, the food is delicious, but the vibes are the best. It's so chill and the inside is beautiful. The service is spectacular. If anybody asks me where to go downtown, I always suggest Kyo!

The atmosphere here is fantastic! From the hand-drawn art on the windows and the beautiful tableware, to the friendly service. Of course, the most important thing is that the food and cocktails here are also amazing. I will definitely come back.

Restaurantji Recommends
Food seemed like it was reheated from a box. Cheese pork katsu was super thin, cheese seemed processed and I got 1 small portion piece for $1. But it was the batter that showed it wasn't made in the restaurant. Looked like processed food.Rice tasted like it was microwaved being luke warm and the hard texture on top.Udon soup was very sweet with no other flavor. Not sure why they give out cold semi boiled eggs for customers to peel. Not sure how it has so many high reviews, I felt deceived. Not worth the money or time. I had cheese katsu before in many other places.

The good: The atmosphere was incredible (loved the music!) and the chicken karaage appetizer was delicious. The not so good: The salmon don was just okay; it was lacking salt and flavour. The rice base was also kind of gritty (the texture was comparable to quinoa, maybe it was a blend?).The ugly: The service was good, but the waiter only paid attention to the two people I dined with. Maybe they were under the assumption that I would not be the one paying? This offended me quite a bit.
Great beef sushi taco experience, first time doing this, amazing food.
