Mary's African Cuisine is an absolutely awesome place to eat and it was the first place I got a chance to try a dish from Africa. I just went today. Mary is a very professional women and she has worked very hard throughout COVID and provides excellent food. My favourite dish is the pumpkin spinach dish and I recommend it to anyone interested. Mary and her husband John are a very important part of what makes Halifax the city it is. Also, during my visit Mary handled two very difficult customers who I am sure will post negative reviews but those reviews are completely bologna. They were very disrespectful to Mary within 5 minutes of entering her restaurant and lacked compassion for the circumstances of COVID. Anways, I think Mary's and Mary are fantastic and I plan on being a regular - anyone reading should too! All the best Mary!

I ordered for the first time today through Uber eats...... I highly recommend this place! We got the oxtail, plantain and poutine.... all of which were perfect! If you haven’t tried it yet you need to stop what you’re doing and place your order now!

Delicious goat meat stew! They ran out of beef so we tried the goat. The rice was fluffy and the sides were also good. Only $12. Highly recommend!

Vegans rejoice! All the veg stews are vegan. I had a combo plate, $12, of three of the veg dishes with lentil rice, all very tasty. (I chose black-eyed peas, eggplant and cabbage.) Central location is good.

Edit: I wrote a review for the wrong location. There's an actual sit-down location (1701 barrington), and the farmers market location which only opens in Saturdays until 5pm. The menu is slightly different. I'd recommend the sit-down location because it's more comfortable and less crowded

In Halifax for a concert and we swung in for lunch after it stood out on our way to the hotel. Such a great meal, perfect portion for a great price. We had the chicken yassa with plantains and was it ever good
