Excellent ! Our meals were cooked to perfection and beautifuly presented The poached halibut was moist and tasty. I had scallop ceviche for the first time; it was superb. Thin slices draped over a flavorful sauce. Service was excellent.! Highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area.

We had dinner at McKelvie’s during our trip to Halifax. Overall, the experience was just okay. The kale salad was the highlight—fresh, well-seasoned, and honestly the best part of the meal. We also ordered the lobster, but it was underwhelming. It lacked flavour and didn’t really stand out, especially compared to other seafood we had on this trip. The jambalaya was another letdown—it didn’t have much depth or spice, and the dish felt a bit flat.
The service was fine and the setting was nice, but the food didn’t leave much of an impression. Nothing was terrible, but nothing was particularly memorable either. It felt like one of those places that’s okay if you’re nearby and hungry, but not one I’d go out of my way to recommend.
I’d give it a 3 out of 5 stars. Not bad, not great—just average.

This is my second time visiting this restaurant over the years and found the food and service to be lacking. It took us almost 20 minutes to get a server to take our order and the restaurant wasn’t very busy. We ordered the seafood chowder which was mediocre at best. There was hardly any seafood in it and we found it to be watery. We’ve definitely had better elsewhere especially for the price. I might give it one more try given positive reviews of others but I wasn’t blown away by our experience and felt the food was overpriced for the quantity of food.

Tried this place out tor the first time. We both ordered chowder cups for starters, it was delicious but my bowl was skimpy on seafood, not sure if getting the full bowl might have had more in it. We ordered the scallops with bacon for shareable and a plate of pecan salmon for the main course. I found the scallops alright but my partner really enjoyed them. The salmon was something else, I think the pecan made it taste really good, probably the best salmon I had that I can recall. The prices were not bad for the type of restaurant IMO. I would have rated this 4.5 stars overall. Will go back again to try other dishes.

Absolutely terrible service. We waited over 15 minutes just for someone to greet our table. When my son politely asked a blonde waitress if we could please get a server, she snapped back at my son, “Sir, we’re busy,” and walked away without even trying to help. I’ve never seen that level of disrespect in any restaurant. Completely unacceptable and we will not be returning.
