The decor and environment are nice, and the music is cool if you like it loud. Just know it definitely feels more like a bar than a restaurant, so it’s not the best choice for a quiet dinner.
We ordered a piña colada, and it wasn’t the creamy drink I was expecting. It was more like a lemonade-style drink, which wasn’t really what I had in mind. For food, we tried sliders and tacos. The prices were fair and the flavours were good and they have vegetarian options, although the menu is very limited.
A couple of things held it back as a restaurant experience. The place is very small and the chairs are not comfortable. If you have back issues, this probably isn’t the place for you. Also, we wanted to order appetizers with our drinks, but the server asked us to wait because they prefer serving drinks first. It felt a bit restrictive.
All in all, I’d say it has a decent bar/party environment, and the food is good, but it’s not a great restaurant experience overall. Still, it’s really nice to see more Caribbean/Latino places opening around town, and I genuinely want them to succeed. I think if you know what to expect, you can definitely enjoy your visit. I’ll likely enjoy my next one more now that I understand the vibe, and I’ll ask more questions about the menu and cocktails before ordering so I know exactly what I’m getting.

if you order one thing, get the pulled pork slider. So tender, soft, and flavourful. The jackfruit was good, and we were given a very appreciated warning about how spicy the chicken slider was going to be. AND OH BOY WAS IT SPICY! 6 napkins later, left with a tear streaming down Perry’s face. Would go back! And the drinks are strong 💪

The place here is Caribbean vibes. Your food comes to the table as it's ready. No specific order. Not all main dishes are served at the same time and that's great. If you want to get in and out, this is not the place for you. The plates have just the right amount of food, full of flavor and authenticity.
They have rum flights from all over the Caribbean. They have the most amazing jerk chicken. When the owner comes to see how you enjoyed your meal, you feel like you've found a little piece of the Caribbean right here in Halifax!

Went at lunch time which only had sandwiches available. The jerk sandwich was huge!!!!...but unfortunately that made it very messy and i had to eat it deconstructed. Besides that the flavours were good but insanely spicy. The patio at the back was very nice.

A co-worker recommended this Caribbean restaurant to me and it did not disappoint at all. The food was amazing and the customer service was excellent. The owner was very welcoming and accommodating. Overall it was a great experience and I would highly recommend. Can't wait to visit again.

11/10 experience. Meech and his staff have created a 1-of-a-kind tropical experience in the heart of Quinpool road. The wait staff was exceptional with us, handling dietary restrictions with ease while we sat in a beautiful and welcoming back patio. The food was out of this world flavourful and affordable, while the chef came out to talk and ask us how our meal was. The owner even provided a complimentary beverage upon hearing my fiancé and I were recently engaged. Cannot say enough good things about Palm Tree Kitchen and can’t wait to go back!
