I've gone to this restaurant before and had a lovely experience. So when my mother who doesn't get out much asked for a day trip to the Halifax water front, I thought of them them instantly. The restaurant does have a beautiful spot along the waterfront.
Unfortunately not having to wait to be seated out outside was the best part of the experience today. The food took an extraordinary long amount of time to arrive. And while we were waiting, the water that was provided was tap warm. My mother asked for ice and if the water could be a little colder. More water was brought out but it was still the same temperature.
We found the food underwhelming. The coding of the haddock seemed overcooked and yet still soggy underneath. The fries that came along with it were extremely salty and the coleslaw was not even touched after the first bite.
We were asked by a server who was not our main server if we would like vinegar for the fish. We said yes but she never came back....
When our main server came and asked us how the first few bites were going. We awkwardly looked at each other and at him. I had already asked my mother if we should say something before he asked but it had already taken so long to receive the meal and we weren't interested in waiting around anymore.
When the bill came, we found the server to be unimpressed with us. He finished the transaction and darted away without a word.
Unfortunately on the ride home both of as agreed that the entire experience had been a letdown. With my mother joking, that I should have just taken her to Costco to get a hot dog as she would have enjoyed it more.

Family of 5 went for early dinner on Labor day, arrived at 430pm to get a table and take advantage of the Happy hour that ends at 5pm. It was not busy at all and we were seated right away outside on the patio as it was a nice sunny day. We were trying to make an eye contact with couple of the servers who were serving tables on the other end with no luck until 5pm. at 5:15pm our server arrived after serving the other two tables that arrived after us and apologized for the wait with the excuse her shift was just starting and they are short staffed. I mentioned we were seated by the hostess at 430pm and given menus and water but no waitress showed up to take our order until 515pm and asked for the Happy hour drinks menu which she said is no longer available after 5pm. She did make it up with free beer samples and the service was great once we were acknowledged as customers. The white sangria pitcher we ordered had no alcohol in it but was listed in the alcohol beverage section of their menu. The lobster roll was so-so for $40 each. It was disappointing experience considering the bill we we paid was close to $300. Will not recommend this business if you are planning to have a good time might be hit and miss and won't worth it.

Well made and fresh
We were recently there about 830 in the evening during the week
Wasn't overly busy and food came out quick
I had the seafood linguine and very dissapointed with quality.
Very small portion of linguine, 2 scallops and 4 shrimp and not a lot of sauce. And scallops were very tiny.
And even after our bill got dropped off we didn't see our waitress for over 15 minutes.
And she didn't come check on us once during our meal to see how food was or if we needed anything
For the cost of the meal, I should have gone elsewhere and gotten a proper seafood meal.
My kids said the tacos were good at least.

Overpriced food. Two chicken ceaser salads and one beer over $50 before taxes. Small piece of chicken and it was dry and sauce had no taste. Waited a long time for our food and it wasn't overly busy while we were there. The one good thing about the place is it's on the waterfront, so you can sit outside and enjoy the view.

First of all waitress was helpful and friendly . But the calamari was not good very salty and tasted processed and chemically, for a restaurant serving fish was not fresh , but like right out of a bag frozen and fried . Cesar salad was very delicious . Costly for what I ordered plus you don’t get even a plateful of calamari .

We have gone there so many times as locals , we went with friends visiting from ottawa and never had an issue the food service always great. But today, the young server clearly needs more training , he messed up our order .our child never got his tenders 1st. And actually never came .my favorite go-to is the pei potato chips nachos. He forgot the chicken, and the manager came to attempt to rectify it, and she is an embarrassment to P&B
The owner should fire her , she has no clue how to deal with customers. She was rude and wanted to charge us for the food we didn't get and eat. It took 15 min. To get our drinks.and sadly, we will never return , she has ruined our favorite place to go.
I pray the owner sees my review.
So after the fact , I emailled the gm , and she was apologetics and offered gc to return , we never herd back from her .sad but its ok as we have found a new local gi to that's now our new favorite.

We enjoyed dinner on the patio at Pickford & Black, with a stunning view of the full moon...it was such a memorable experience!
I was thrilled to find several vegetarian options and chose the Mediterranean Bowl, which was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. They also have a fantastic mocktail menu! The patio overlooks the water, creating a wonderful atmosphere to relax and enjoy your meal.
If you’re looking for a great dinner spot, I highly recommend Pickford & Black!

This was my first east coast lobster experience and I was actually not impressed. Yes, it looked amazing but I suspect it might have been overcooked - it was stringy and tough. It wasn't served with butter which I found strange. With no sauce or butter it was a different experience for sure.

This restaurant has a great location but needs major menu rework. The seafood fettuccine for $29 was barely worth $12. I was pretty shocked, actually with tasteless store bought noodles and sauce with 2 small scallops a a few small shrimp thrown in. I've been disappointed there a few years ago, too. They feature Gahan beer, and should offer some other local microbrews...

Visited with my wife as it was walking distance from our hotel and they had outdoor seating next to the water. The host did not seem to be having a good day but there was no wait getting our table. Service was decent and we got our drinks in a reasonable amount of time. The server was good but there was clearly a delay in the kitchen for many people's food, ours included. We were not starving so this was OK. 4 stars overall from me but I would hesitate to recommend this places to others. The location is the best thing about this place.
