Salt + Ash Beach House

Found this place on the waterfront in Halifax on 2nd of Jan 2026, and decided to try the culinary foods presented to us at this restaurant. We didn’t make a reservation, however they accommodated us and sat us by the bar due to all tables being reserved ahead of us. We had hesitations about our choice at first because we thought the seating at the bar/working counter was going to be uncomfortable but we were fortunately wrong. Nice chairs and cozy spot. Our waiter “Dan” greeted us and made us feel even more relaxed after walking us thru various food items from the menu and we decided to go for the S+A BBQ platter. It was a mix of different salads and meat choices that we had not had before. The meal was absolutely excellent! We also had white wine and blond ales during our meal and were totally impressed with the great quality of not only the food, but of the service given to us by Dan. A Pleasurable and polite guy to talk to and sharp as a tack when we queried his knowledge about the restaurant and our food choices. He made us feel comfortable and appreciated which is a rare trait lately within the food industry. (based on our experiences). Great time there and look forward to returning again in the future.

The food was quite good, was a bit shocked to receive our dessert in what appears to be a to go container whilst eating in. No other visitors appeared to have their desserts presented as so, twas actually the beauty of a fellow customers dessert which inspired us to order this one.

I get its a high end place but bud, 28 for fish and chips?? We are by the sea bud. Also that poutine was horrible, gotta stop over complicating things man.

We sampled a variety of dishes from the menu, and every single one was fantastic. The food exceeded expectations, and the atmosphere was exactly what we needed after a hectic hockey tournament weekend.

Pizza is to die for make sure to order margarita pizza , amazing atmosphere , you can enjoy view either winter or summer , my go to restaurant.

Service was fabulous, atmosphere was incredibly lovely. Heater didnt work on patio so we moved 3x. We had a service dog with us so we ate on patio. There were 3 of us. Wait was a little long for food and ppl who were seated after us got their food b4 we did. My eggs Benny was cold, not even warm. I asked that it be taken and warmed up. It was perfectly fine, not to waste it. They brought me a bowl of steaming hot tater tots and I waited as they remade my EB. My lunch guests were finished eating by the time I got mine. I was not hungry at this time, wait was too long and I ate some tater tots. I gave my friend half of my egg dish and found a hair in it. Was not asked if we'd like our coffees topped up or refilled. For such an upscale restaurant I was extremely disappointed. So unfortunate.

The food was great!
A ambience was good.
But the day (Friday night) we went was too crowded and loud.
Would recommend reserving table ahead of time.

Everything was great except how we booked ahead of time yet we were seated in a cramped corner back to back with another table of 6? And when inquired about changing the table we realized there was atleast 5 other tables we could switch to that were nicer with bigger space so big question mark to the host?? Otherwise food was great and service was fair.

Another fantastic meal at Salt+Ash. We had a wonderful time with delicious food. The new menu offered many new choices, and we decided on the new pork belly bites. Highly recommend for anyone heading in to give it a try! Will definitely be back.
