Always loved their food. Hate to see this location leaving! Our waitress was so friendly and we didn't have to wait long at all to get our food and as usual it was amazing, I'll be back before the final day for sure!!!
Dietary restrictions: They offer gluten-free options
I was looking forward to a great steak, so I ordered a 10 Oz. N.Y. Sirloin with a baked potatoe. The steak arrived so thin I thought it was the 8 Oz. It was dry instead of well marbled and juicy and filled with lines of gristle which my serrated steak knife had trouble cutting through. The potato was tepid at best where the butter had trouble melting. I did not complain as we were the guests of a dear old friend who recommended this Dartmouth location because it was close to her residence. NEVER AGAIN!
Incredible service at the table. Plenty of free parking. Visit on a Saturday afternoon around 2:30. Not busy at this time. They have a 30% off for seniors over 60 on seniors appreciation day.Love the Delmonico steak. See picture. The apple crumble with ice cream was out of this world.
Parking: In front of the main entrance.
Good food, nice staff. Prices were a little high for the portions. Atmosphere was excellent. More of a family restaurant, rather than a date night.
Always love the Derby marinated flavor but they use an inexpensive cut of meat and sometimes you get a lot of gristle. Decided to try the new premium steak assuming I would not have to worry about getting one with a lot of gristle. Bad choice. For a $33.00 steak it was terrible, not very tender and although I ordered it Derby style it was nowhere near the flavor of the regular
Waitress was very nice and helpful. Brought drinks when glass was empty without us having to ask. Chocolate milk in a spill proof cup with a straw for my 2 grandson's. Have always loved steak n stein.
I was there with friends last night. I have not been to either location for years; now I know why. I ordered the Smoked Meat on Rte. I got 2 slices of low quality smoked meat and they over-toasted the marble rye, which should not have been toasted at all. I should have sent it back, but it's hard to do when there's a group.

Love the blooming onion!!And we had such an amazing server, Jennifer I think. ❤️
The Steak and Stein did not have my Holy Trinity of eating out: The wallpaper was peeling off the walls, the steak was the most inconsistently cooked over I've ever had and the prices were high enough to warrant receiving a perfect meal...I enjoyed the service as our waitress was pleasant, helpful and attentive.Alas my bun was dry and my steak raw at one end and fully cooked at the other. The meal arrived far too quickly, leading me to think something is rotten in the State of Denmark.

Would not recommend going to this place even if your life depended on it. We each ordered steak and it wasn’t steak that came out of that kitchen. The menu says steak but they really mean pig ear cartilage. It was grey and gristly and very unappetizing. The lettuce on the salad was brown. After eating this food we felt like we wanted to sit on the toilet all day. We mentioned something to the lady taking payment and she just said sorry. Thank you steak and stein for the waste of money, ability to make three hungry people not hungry for days and for the diarrhea. Never going back again, save your money and cook at home. Disgusting. Run for your life if anyone suggests going here.
Don’t come here. The steak ( if you can call it that) is like a pice of shoe leather. I wouldn’t feed it to my dog. I expected better steak from an actual STEAKHOUSE. Also they microwave their food. That explains it. Don’t be fooled by the pictures on their website.
This restaurant brings back memories of living in Halifax. We ordered the7oz. Pan-Fried Haddock (2 @13.00)Seafood Chowder- BOWLSingle Del Monico SteakWe ordered the Friday special - pan fried. Haddock. The fish had a mildly sweet taste with a texture that was firm yet tender. The chowder was delicious. A bit on the salty side but paired nicely with the dinner rolls. The steak was a sub par cut of beef. I ordered medium and received well done. The service was quickly and the waitress was very friendly.
The steak had nice flavor but was quite gristle-y. Asked for medium rare and got medium. I've been spoiled by high end steak restaurants though. Mussels were delicious! You get what you pay for! Fast service.
We just had dinner at Steak and Stein. It reminded us of inexpensive steak chains near us in the US from years back. We have been eating quite a bit of sea food lately and just craved a steak. We chose Steak and Stein for this endeavor. The restaurant being located in a strip mall fit into the stereo type for a lower cost chain restaurant. But to be fair to them, it had a much better décor inside than we expected. Not it is not a high class place. But it is not bad. Actually, we found it quite nice inside and great for normal people and families who are more interested in dinner than having a high class dinner experience. As such, it's a great family restaurant. We decided on steaks for dinner. Mine was a NY strip steak. The wife went with a smaller and less expensive cut called a Calgary steak, with a side of scallops. We have never heard of a Calgary steak. But she tried it anyway. Her steak was very tender. but had a couple of small spots of grizzle. Her scallops were not as good as the sea food places we've been to recently. But she said they were not bad and worth ordering. My Steak was a better quality steak, that was very good. No it was not the best quality steak I've ever had. But it was quite acceptable. It wasn't what I would consider an economy steak. But it was one of the high priced steak I've had either. The staff that we dealt with were all very nice and professional. Another plus to Steak and Stein is that they off 15% off on meals for people 60 years and older on Wednesdays. That can help our senior citizens, and I applaud them for that.So our visit to Steak and Stein was positive. As such, I would return to Steak and Stein if the opportunity arose. They are worth a try.
