After we landed in Halifax, we walked to the waterfront where we heard live music. We followed it and ended up here for lunch. We had our pup so we ate outside with the music and had the best time! The atmosphere was fantastic. My husband got the chowder and loved it. My mac & cheese was good but again, the overall atmosphere and friendly staff made this place great!

Normally a great spot for beer and snacks on a beautiful day but today was not good. Although not overly busy, the line for getting drinks was long. Then my husband had to go to another bar to get the white wine with a ticket. Once there he was told that they didn’t have any white wine left as they were only open for a few more weeks…huh? He then asked for red wine for me. It came in a tiny amount and he pointed out that it was not a proper size glass. The bartender found another bottle and added to it. It was ice cold from the fridge. I went back and asked if they had anything in red that wasn’t cold. She said they keep it in the fridge since it’s an outdoor bar and that they were closing next week and it was a holiday and they didn’t have their proper order. So many weird excuses from a place that we like to frequent as haligonians who live near by. I guess we will wait until next summer to come back and see if you have more supplies. Oh and my husbands beer was flat.

Dartmouthian here, sat down for a lunch here, was looking forward to the fish (haddock it said on menu) and chips, husband avid seafood lover had the chowder with double seafood. Worse piece of fish I've ever had, I can usually eat my food regardless of whether I enjoy it or not. Not this piece of fish, not even sure it was haddock, had no taste, except for the greasy batter. Husband's chowder was also poor, 1 tiny whole shrimp, as you would find in a can, and a few pieces. The chowder taste was also nothing like any chowder he had ever had, he felt they added hot sauce to give it some semblance of flavor. Quite annoyed actually that this is fed to tourists who are looking forward to fresh Nova Scotia seafood. This is not it, I would give this venue a hard pass. There are so many more venues that have excellent seafood in the Halifax area. I can only say sorry to all the tourists that have had it.

Had a pretty good time. We were allowed to bring the dogs on the patio, which is a big plus. Unfortunately we did get approached by another dog, which startled mine (this isn't the time for leashed greetings, even less so if the greeted party doesn't see this coming). Food is okay, food options are decent and service was okay. At time tricky to get what we wanted even though we didn't come at a busy time.

Nice place for a drink on the ocean. Who ever red haired bathroom door guy is is a poor sport and should switch professions. I walked by to use the rest room came back through and was stopped. I explained I was already in the place with my friend who were waiting In line and he told me to walk around the whole place and go in again just cuz. Didn’t get stopped by any other staff. Power trip 101! Thanks for being annoying.

Lots of fun during the Oktoberfest festivities. The German band was funny. The Schitzel we had was ok.

I’m sitting here in NY at JFK reviewing in my head our time at BG in Halifax. 8 family members (mostly brothers) cruised together. We went to the waterfront and fell into BG! AWESOME PLACE. The service was outstanding, ERIN knew just how to respond to this sarcastic loving jab poking group. 3 brothers were celebrating bdays and WOW Erin and her group of servers went way and beyond to make it memorable. Big Beers Beaver tails and all. Thanks for making our Canadian experience so fun. Lookout folks Erin is going places-she’s gonna break the glass ceiling-her way! We mostly drank beer and ate pretzels. Like I said Erin fed into our fun meter quickly and robustly!

Nice and comfortable, contemporary seating with an amazing view of the ocean.
Central location in the harbor, there is a seating area with self-service which is great for those who just want to drink beer.. very recommended indeed. 🍻🍻

Had the fish & chips. Tasted good but sat heavy from the oil. My wife has the fish tacos and they did not have much fish in them. She has had much better elsewhere.

Location location location. The BG is right along the waterfront with an open terrace and balcony seating. Makes for a great environment for drinks and food.

I like the servers.
I like their drink options.
I love how it's open air.
I like how it is open very late.
However, I went to their women's washroom and their African? male cleaner just went in started checking while there are other women inside. I am accustomed to cleaners if, male announcing themselves or knocking before going in or have female.
