Good food, their baos were decent, not the best I ever had but good flavour. The decor was also quite nice I love the pig with wings around and the dragon tap. I wanted to try the ramen but they were out so tried the pad Thai instead which was presented in such a fun and beautiful way with a egg net. Interested in trying more of their menu.

Great spot in Halifax. Lovely service and food.

Went for a birthday. We were seated at a high table which was disappointing. But the service is the real problem. The servers looked less than alive at any moment. They were all business and looked genuinely annoyed that we were even there. Lacklustre service, no smiles, no friendliness. I only tipped because it’s a nice thing to do. They were sold out of ramen and short rib, the two things everyone wanted. It was freezing cold in there as well . Food was ok, drinks were nice. Overall an overhyped place, but really, see what’s wrong with your servers.

Appetizers were incredible, some of the best around. I will be coming back for more Bao buns. Entrees were underwhelming. Grilled lamb was a bit dry, could've been more flavourful and/or tender. Good service overall.

We love the look of the new location! There are lots of gluten free options on the menu. However, my ramen was far too salty and I wasn’t able to finish it because of that. The rice in the rice bowl was cold. The server was very nice but service was slow. We did enjoy the bao bun and the calamari. We’ll be back to give studio east another chance!

Reservations recommended, we went on the long weekend. We Ordered the house sticky ribs, crispy calamari and shrimp for starters. Both were delicious but the ribs were a hit. My husband ordered the pork ramen which he loved. I got the rice bowl with the fried chicken which was delicious. My friend got the chicken karaage as a main. I would come back to eat here.

I got the tiger shrimp bao and a chicken karaage bao with a salad both were crispy with good toppings. I also ordered the ginger honey tea which was so strong and delicious. Would go again, also very reasonable prices for the quality of food. (My mom got a salad aswell which she said was good)

This is one of our go to spots! Food is fantastic. Our service was fine but the servers was really phony and off putting.

First time here, and I loved it. I ordered the tuna bowl and was completely satisfied. The flavor and presentation were 10/10. I'll be back to try other dishes. The service was very good, relatively quick because several tables were occupied.

Fantastic food in a great neighbourhood. Service was very quick and friendly. It’s a pretty large space. The pork belly bao buns were really good, along with the potato dumplings! My friend is vegetarian so we got all veggie apps to share and they were all good. A good array of food options for all preferences. Would come back for cocktails and appetizers with a larger group! Side note: they make a great Shirley temple

Some of the best food in Halifax, and some of the worst service.

Been there twice, in January and this week. January they just didn’t bring one of our entrees until everyone else at the table was done their meal. Server attended the table maybe 3 times in two hours.

This week, we went in for an early dinner and the woman working as a host was baked out of her mind. At 5pm on a Saturday there was a line out onto the sidewalk, not because they were busy yet, but because the one server had to do the hosts job after the host just disappeared. This when there were three tables seated in the entire restaurant and the server was stuck doing double duty as the only person in both sections. Took 20 minutes to get the attention of the bartender and get our bill because he was busy bussing his own dishes and doing all his own bar prep at 5pm, and the other bartender was getting slammed with cocktail orders.

The food is absolutely spectacular, but the place needs a shift manager to make sure the bare minimum is being done for service, that staff have some help if needed, and that things like bar prep aren’t being done right at the start of the dinner rush. Shouldn’t have to wait for 10 minutes to get waters when there’s only one other table seated in the place.

Other than the stoned host, it’s not the serving staffs fault, but they need to have some training on basics and someone in the building to make sure things are on track.

Been here many times and always have a great experience. Food and drinks are amazing, staff are friendly and it’s easily one of my favourite spots in the city.

Their baos are the best and maybe they should just re open as a bao restaurant because everything else on the food menu feels disappointing after the first two bites. I chose to go in for burger week and the burger was good but wish the buns were not as soggy to the mouth. As a well renowned restaurant, maybe there’s no need to serve ketchup in a plastic cup and frozen fries.
