Tawa grill is a reasonable option for Indian food in Halifax. I have visited Tawa numerous times. The food is always fresh, the flavours and masalas are consistent. On the contrary, I find they use too much masala and at times one will taste strong masala not cooked fully. Some dishes are not Authentic North Indian style but you can always ask them to make it a specific way. Earlier they used ready-made Naan bread which was a low point but now they cook freah Naan and Roti in house which has added to the experience. Location is great. Ambience is not fine dining but is alright. For Indian food Tawa is one of the recommended places around town but there are definitely better places to recommend. Overall, I would give three stars.

We tried the Chana Massala, butter chicken, garlic naan and rice. Absolutely outstanding and very reasonably priced. We have found our Indian spot and will be back for sure.

This is my detailed review about Tawa Grill, two words - The best. That’s all I have, they are the best in town and the cheapest in town if you want to have some good Indian food, this should be your go to place. All of their dishes are amazingly cheap and delicious, portions are very good and enough for 2 people if you order one curry, they are just best, the service is also good they have good trained people serving therefore they have good service.
Pros :
Food ( of course )
Service
Cheapest in town for Indian Food
Cons:
Parking( it might be a struggle to find one, sometimes)
No ambience ( its decent )
They are only open from 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Overall, its really good and awesome and worth for every penny. Food I tried and recommend, if you are meat lover, go for Chicken Tandoori or Chicken Tikka Masala. And if you are vegetarian, Panner Chilli is your take, its the best. Don’t miss on it.

I used to be a regular customer of Tawa Grill in 2021 then I was away from Halifax today As I came back so i decided to visit them and have food with my family. First I ordered Tangri kabab I don’t know whats wrong with their quality they just served me a boiled chicken, I refuse to eat it then I order a veg thali and chicken briyani, without even saying a single word I pretend to pack some stuff and left rest on the table and pay the bill with in 5 mins. No questions being asked why you leaving the food, anythjng wrong with it , worst service given by a girl who was standing behind the cash counter, giving instructions to the customers to sit on that table in a very unappropriate manner seems rude. The food full of colors that stick with our fingers and too spicy that could effect our health. Very bad experience it seems like they are no more professionals, not taking care of customer leaving the food behind.
Never Ever Visit them again. Money and food both got wasted… I feel bad about food that got wasted. But I can’t compromise on my health over food. Yucky taste #garbage food

Tawa is a Nepalese Indian restaurant with an extensive menu of Indian and Hakka specialities. And since it’s located in Halifax, many traditional dishes include seafood such as the chili fish ($16.50). Flakey tender pieces of cod were tossed in a sauce that had just enough heat to salivate the tongue without scorching. Arriving piping hot, the fragrant ginger, garlic, green onions, bell pepper, and chilis combine into a wonderful sauce covering the still crispy fish. You’ll need an order of plain basmati rice ($5) to balance off the dish’s saltiness.
For diners who love saucy dishes, the creamy tomato-based curry in the kaida chicken ($16.50) is lovely for slathering on rice or dipping naan into. Of all the dishes, it held the least heat but still incorporated enough spices for flavour. There were generous chunks of chicken steeped in the gravy, but I would have liked dark meat better as the chicken breast was a little tough.
Tawa’s shrimp biryani ($17.99) was huge and while the shrimp were overcooked the rice was moist and flavourful. I couldn’t get enough of the dish and had bowl after bowl despite being stuffed.
You will not leave hungry. Even their naan ($3; two orders in picture) was sizeable and seemed like it was coming from a never-ending basket. Do yourself a favour and start with one then add on as needed.

The food here is fantastic! It was prepared super quickly for takeout, and the flavors are on point. The spice level is great—not too spicy so even my kid could enjoy it. The portions are big, and the prices are very reasonable. This place has everything I’m looking for, and I’ll definitely be coming back. I highly recommend the samosas, pakoras, butter chicken, tandoori chicken, and biryani.
