The Barrington Steakhouse & Oyster Bar

Overall an excellent experience. From great service to amazing food, we celebrated an anniversary; we were not disappointed with our choice. The ability to add flowers from a local florist at the time of booking was a great, and we were met with a handwritten card and welcome drinks. The Cigar Tenderloin was cooked perfectly; the best steak in the city. I would highly recommend!

Food was amazing the place and ambience is exactly what you are looking for. Ben the Bar manager standing in for the other two managers was great and so professional. He made us feel welcome and the attention to detail with making sure our service was up to par. I will definitely visit again from the UK.

One of the best suppers I’ve ever had. The steak was cooked to perfection, the creamed corn with chilly crisp UNREAL, bone marrow potatoes out of this world. If you’re looking for a special treat I HIGHLY recommend visiting you will NOT be disappointed ❤️❤️

A very pleasant and cozy experience.
We had just arrived from Europe and headed straight from the hotel to the Barrington. I was really craving a good steak.
The bartender noticed us right away and gave us a warm welcome – the staff is very well-trained and extremely friendly. The food selection is good, we really liked the concept, and the drinks menu is excellent as well. The prices are a bit on the high side, but the quality of the food is truly first-class. The only drawback was the long wait, but in return we got an extra oyster for free. Definitely worth a visit – the atmosphere is fantastic too.

Visited for a date night while visiting the city. Everything was absolutely amazing and worth every dollar. The ambiance is great, the subdued lighting helps to feel as if it’s just you and your table even if near other parties.

Gaetan could not have made us feel more welcome and comfortable and truly made the entire visit and experience rather than a meal. His menu knowledge really helped elevate the whole dinner even further.

We’re still full from the food and are planning another visit just to come here again.

We had a great first experience. The grilled calamari was delicious and our server was very patient and knowledgable!

This restaurant will exceed your expectations like it did for us. What a well appointed lovely restaurant in downtown Halifax. It is a must for a celebration or a romantic evening with someone special. The staff are more than exceptional. They are well versed in the menu, hospitality and charm. The food was mind blowing. And so glad we chose to dine here for this special occasion. We can't recommend it enough. They were kind to steer clear of my dietary restrictions of lactose and added a nice touch of a hand written card celebrating a special day for us. 5 stars to staff, food, atmosphere , quality and service. HIGHLY recommend.

Fabulous restaurant. I'm from out of town and only been once before pre covid. I always end up on the waterfront when in Halifax but will not overlook this place again when in town. Incredible food, atmosphere and service.

Being from Alberta, this was our first time at Barringtons. Once seated, we were greeted by Matt the General Manager. He welcomed us to his restaurant made us feel right at home. Our waiter Gaetan was superb. He helped us navigate the menu and suggested an excellent Pinot Noir to complement our meal. We tried oysters as an appetizer, they were very tasty. The steaks were delicious and cooked to perfection. The dining experience was wonderful. We will definitely make a point of going back to this restaurant when we are in town.

We ordered a dozen row oysters, it's great and fresh. Beautiful house and perfect service.
