The Barrington Steakhouse & Oyster Bar

We were pleasantly greeted, seated, and cocktails delivered promptly. Staff absolutely amazing. We had oyster Rockefeller that were delicious. The steaks were cooked to perfection.

Compared to the other restaurants we tried (Ragazzi, Drift, Blacsheep) Barrington Steak House was clearly superior in every aspect.

Thank you for a great evening. Josh and Grace served us throughout the evening. Service with a smile. Shared the Tomahawk between three of us, perfectly cooked and presented. Sides were well done. Nice wine selection at good price points.

Great music and server was always around. Steak was over done for a few orders and chewiest I've ever had. Disappointed in the food (especially for the price) but music and servers were good.

Waited 2 hours to get our food, asked for a medium rare steak and it came rare, and cold. Very disappointed with the service especially to be paying a premium over, would be better off going to a steakhouse chain like the keg.

This was my third or fourth time there, but I've always had oysters and steak. I did have oysters (from PEI — they did have other choices). I also had the lobster risotto. Being lactose intolerant, I was relieved to hear that the chef could make it for me without a “dash of cream”... well, I would recommend having it the way I had it because it was freaking delicious. It's now the next day and I'm still thinking about it—that's how good it was. Loads of lobster, risotto was the right texture, tiny peas, lemony, hot, and it could not have been better. My spouse had the burger and declared it “great” (he loves blue cheese). Will be back!

Had a bad experience dining here on the weekend... Extremely slow service. Took 30 minutes just to get our drinks, and it continued throughout the night. Appetizers came out cold, and the portions were pathetic (2 scallops for $30). Should've left at that point but ended up staying for a chewy cold steak that I could've made better at home. Then the best part - we both spent the night on the toilet with violent food poisoning.

Booked reservation with Birthday special occasion. Was gifted oysters or glass of champagne upon next visit. Excellent service and food. Sides will serve 2-3 people easy. Really enjoyed everything about the whole experience.

We booked Barrington Steakhouse for an early dinner after a Neptune matinee to celebrate Mother's Day. The room is beautiful, it's sort of dark and "masculine" but very comfortable and cozy. Myself, Mom and Sister are not super heavy eaters, so we opted to share a 14oz butter-aged Baron Ribeye, plus a bunch of sides. Everything was absolutely delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly (medium rare) and literally melted in our mouths. The sides were also all fantastic, brussel sprouts, beets, garlic mash and probably one of the most addictive mac and cheese dishes I've ever tried. It was the perfect amount of food for us. Our server Gaetan was simply wonderful, very attentive and thoughtful with his recommendations. We will 100% be back for our next special occasion. Mom is always a critic and she actually sincerely enjoyed herself!

Barrington Steakhouse & Oyster Bar provided an elegant and sophisticated setting for a memorable evening in Halifax. My sister was particularly excited to try their Steak Tartare, as it was something she had been looking forward to during our visit to Halifax, and she thoroughly enjoyed it. The Strip Loin was cooked to absolute perfection, and the Roasted Parsnips with honey and thyme proved to be an unexpectedly standout dish that even impressed the meat-eaters at our table. The service we received from Neil, was exceptional, was top-notch; he truly embodied the idea of hospitality and made us feel incredibly well taken care of. Barrington Street Steakhouse offers a taste of high-end dining in Halifax, perfect for a special occasion.

This was an excellent meal. Service was also excellent. The beef Wellington did not disappoint. Sides were yummy too.

Great steak and shareable sides. Pricy but excellent quality! Service was perfect and very professional! We sat downstairs by the fireplace and it was a beautiful ambiance, very easy to converse and not loud at all. Would highly recommend!

Went in during burger week with a group of 7,8 people. Everyone ordered a burger and fries. The waitress asked if people preferred regular of truffle fries. Most people ordered truffle fries. Bill came, truffle fries were additional 13$. This was not mentioned when order was taken. Regular fries were free of charge btw. You would think if you are offering a substitution, you would mention if its gonna cost the guest another 13$. Food was fine, just a burger so can't really make any judgment based on that. Atmosphere pretty quiet, barely any tables but that could be because we had an early dinner reservation.
