I came here this evening, March 30, 2025 and I had a wonderful experience. I was attending a conference at Dalhousie and I am from BC. I had a lovely experience here!

The food, service, and atmosphere are top notch. Eat person I interacted with was super lovely, friendly, and welcoming :)

I ordered the 10oz steak with a side salad and mash. The portion size was great! Sometimes you go to a steakhouse and the food is scant but the price is large. Here, I felt like it was appropriately priced and generously portioned! So it actually is a great bang for your buck.

The service was really great. Each host, server, etc. were so friendly. They seemed like warm and genuine people. Lots of good vibes!

Halifax is very cold (imo ~ it is spring in BC! lol!) this time of year and it was great to be in such a warm environment. I sat by the window and I was able to overlook the streets. And actually, when I arrived at the restaurant the host intentionally put me there without me even having to ask! The space is warmly lit and bright enough for a late evening meal.

I am not sure when or if I will come back to Halifax, but if I do I will surely come again! :) I would love to try their risotto and salads! Honestly, the entire menu looks great! They even have vegetarian and vegan options! One of my colleagues said the vegan options were great!!!!

10/10 recommend!

Vegetarian options: Many choices ~ and some can be made vegan too!

They do room delivery for an extra added convenience fee. You can pick up to avoid those costs.
You can order directly from your room as well. I ordered the avocado toast with 2 eggs as an add on. The food was amazing. Toast was huge, lots of avocado. The eggs must have been double the size of my standard size of eggs. Very filling. Great prices for the portion you receive.

We must say, after deciding that we’d “make do” with the restaurant in our hotel, we were bowled over by the food and the exemplary service.

We ordered the blackened chicken and the dijon salmon. Both were out of this world. The chicken in particular was tender as could be and had a little snap to it as well. Mashed potatoes were perfect. Also had a glass of Chilean red wine and a sangria. Both wonderful.

Then the dessert. Lemon crème brûlée and an apple galette. I was so full, but didn’t leave a crumb.

Excellent service. Quick food delivery. All in all, a superior meal out.

Went here for a birthday party of 14 people, our party got split into two tables. The servers weren’t very interested in serving us. Almost $90 for two people. The salmon was smaller than expected and a little bit dry.

The 4 stars is actually for the service. The servers were great. The ambiance was sublime. The food however could be better. We ordered the fish and chips and the blackened chicken. You can tell the kitchen was really heavy handed with the salt. It's good to experiment with butter, cumin, white pepper, scotch bonnet pepper etc. This is what gives food flavor. Salt is just a tool and not to be used as a main highlight. It might have been an off day for the kitchen. But noticed a few restaurants in Halifax seem to be this way.Spoiled for choice in Toronto and other cities in the world for sure.

Had the lobster & crab dip and cauliflower bites. They were both tasty. The cannery lager was good as well.

We came on a Sunday, brunch is over by 11. There wasn't anyone else there. The view and atmosphere was spectacular, but we waited over an hour for food which was surprising considering there weren't many guests. We had a party of 8 but no one could get through the phone to make a reservation, though Im not sure it would have mattered. There is an automatic gratuity for tables of 8 or more. Parking on street if you aren't a hotel guest.
The kids meal was gigantic and easily could fill an adult. The food was absolutely delicious and huge portion sizes. Honestly it was a lovely visit even despite the very long wait, was just hard with a toddler. Very good food. Bright atmosphere.

Our family of three recently visited Cannery Restaurant for dinner, and while the experience had its highlights, it was a bit of a mixed bag. The ambiance was undeniably beautiful, offering a pleasant and inviting setting for our meal.
We started with high hopes, but the service left something to be desired. The servers were just too busy. Unfortunately, our food took over 40 minutes to arrive, and the explanation given was that there were too many orders at once, which dampened the experience.
As for the food, it was a bit of a rollercoaster. The fish tacos were the standout—absolutely amazing, with crisp and fresh fries on the side. These are the best fries we ever had. The butter chicken was good, flavorful, and comforting. However, the butter tofu was disappointing; the tofu was far too hard and didn't have the texture or taste we were expecting. The chef needs to take care of this. The quantity of each dish was also reasonable.
While the food had its highlights, the long wait and quality of butter tofu made the experience a bit less enjoyable than we had hoped. Our server Bruce was very polite and compensated us in the end for the long wait :) Thank you Bruce.

Sorry, didn’t take any pictures as we were extremely hungry by the time dinner arrived.

Vegetarian options: They have quite a few veg options. The prices were reasonable and quantity of each dish was good too.
