We went on a Wednesday evening around 7pm and we were the only table in there. Service was mediocre, no complaints but nothing above and beyond for the empty restaurant. The food was terrible. I had the four cheese chicken penne and it was bland and way too salty.. hardly any flavour and the chicken seems to have just been microwaved. My husband said my meal tasted off. He got the risotto and it wasn’t even a traditional risotto, just wet rice beside the rest of the dish. There are so many better restaurants in the area so I wouldn’t recommend coming here unfortunately

I don’t usually write negative reviews, but my experience at The Cannery, the hotel restaurant, was truly disappointing. Our server, Lee, was incredibly rude from the start. The restaurant was nearly empty — only about three tables were occupied — yet the service was inattentive and frustrating. Lee spilled a lot of water on the table and didn’t apologize or make any effort to clean it up. We were left to deal with it ourselves. When I politely asked if I could have a few slices of bread, he snapped, “We are not carrying any bread,” in a very dismissive and unpleasant tone. Despite how quiet the restaurant was, Lee disappeared for long periods and was nowhere to be found when we needed anything. There was absolutely no sense of hospitality, care, or basic courtesy during the entire visit. For a hotel restaurant, this level of service is simply unacceptable. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously and addresses these issues with their staff.

Went to the mother day brunch. They had two kinds of soups, one was a fish chowder, one was a tomato both were excellent. The mother's day brunch should have had prime rib. Instead they had a outside round. Very tough. The server was next to nil. We were lucky to get drinks. There was no communication between us and the server at any given time to see if we liked the buffet, or we needed anything else. Yet he expected a tip at the end. The desserts on the most part very good.

Wouldn’t really recommend if you’re vegan. They have vegan options like nachos which is cool in theory but they’re zero effort at the same price and were almost hilariously just a pile of chips with tomatoes on top. No plant based cheese that you can just get at Superstore, no vegan sour cream, etc.

The food, service, and atmosphere are top notch. Eat person I interacted with was super lovely, friendly, and welcoming :)
I ordered the 10oz steak with a side salad and mash. The portion size was great! Sometimes you go to a steakhouse and the food is scant but the price is large. Here, I felt like it was appropriately priced and generously portioned! So it actually is a great bang for your buck.
The service was really great. Each host, server, etc. were so friendly. They seemed like warm and genuine people. Lots of good vibes!
Halifax is very cold (imo ~ it is spring in BC! lol!) this time of year and it was great to be in such a warm environment. I sat by the window and I was able to overlook the streets. And actually, when I arrived at the restaurant the host intentionally put me there without me even having to ask! The space is warmly lit and bright enough for a late evening meal.
I am not sure when or if I will come back to Halifax, but if I do I will surely come again! :) I would love to try their risotto and salads! Honestly, the entire menu looks great! They even have vegetarian and vegan options! One of my colleagues said the vegan options were great!!!!
10/10 recommend!

They do room delivery for an extra added convenience fee. You can pick up to avoid those costs. You can order directly from your room as well. I ordered the avocado toast with 2 eggs as an add on. The food was amazing. Toast was huge, lots of avocado. The eggs must have been double the size of my standard size of eggs. Very filling. Great prices for the portion you receive.

We must say, after deciding that we’d “make do” with the restaurant in our hotel, we were bowled over by the food and the exemplary service.
We ordered the blackened chicken and the dijon salmon. Both were out of this world. The chicken in particular was tender as could be and had a little snap to it as well. Mashed potatoes were perfect. Also had a glass of Chilean red wine and a sangria. Both wonderful.
Then the dessert. Lemon crème brûlée and an apple galette. I was so full, but didn’t leave a crumb.
Excellent service. Quick food delivery. All in all, a superior meal out.
