We had an accepted reservation for Christmas Eve, but they called two days beforehand and said they could no longer honour it as they’d decided to close, leaving us scrambling for a last-minute reservation somewhere else. Not sure if the food is good, but management doesn’t seem to be on the ball.

Simply the worst dining experience I’ve ever had in all my time in Halifax. I do not recommend this location at all. It’s fine for the hotel guests. Definitely NOT a place you’d want to go and enjoy on a Saturday night.
1. The restaurant wasn’t busy. As in maybe ten people in the entire restaurant. It took over 30 mins to get water and drinks.
2. It was clear that there wasn’t enough wait staff and everyone should have been told there were staff issues when we eventually were seated and waited on.
3. It took 1.5 hours for food to be delivered for 5 people. (We were a table of 6).
4. One food item was missed entirely by the kitchen and therefore one person didn’t eat.
5. It was a total of 2 hours start to finish for. 2 clubhouses, 3 burgers and 1 Cesar salad.
6. The apologies made by the waitress were given that they didn’t have enough waitstaff or kitchen staff. While I was grateful she was apologizing but no manager came over to even acknowledge us.
7. They did give us 50% off after the two hours. But when we paid the bill it was 50% off on only the food. Typical etiquette for bad service is comped drinks and after acknowledging the service maybe the comped dinner. We had 5 drinks and the 50% off super did still result in a 150 dollar bill.
8. I definitely expected better and will not be returning.

The breakfast at the Cannery was a pleasant surprise. Serena was our server and she was just perfect at her job as she seemed to anticipate our needs and wants. Right to the end of our breakfast she was there for us and we shared a few chuckles along the way. It is the warmth of the staff that I will remember more than the food however the food was perfection as well. Both my daughter and I have celiac disease and the kitchen accommodated our needs and the food was better than I make at home. Our breakfast was prepaid and the Manager quickly corrected the bill for us. We will miss the care, food and service when we go back home. Thank you for a lovely breakfast all around.

The location in downtown Halifax is great. Parking however, is a bit of a nightmare as with all restaurants downtown. The atmosphere of the restaurant was fine. We arrived at 5:15 PM and left at 6:45 PM and not a single additional customer came in. And that was a Friday evening! The service was fine, everything re: the atmosphere was good. Except, the food is really not great. I am not a picky person at all. The cauliflower bites were cold. And they’re just deep-fried cauliflower. Very, very disappointing. The crab and lobster dip was really pretty awful. And one of us had the salmon. The garlic mashed potatoes was cold. It wasn’t all bad, the fish tacos were not too bad. But when you get food at a restaurant charging the price as they do, your food should not be cold. Never! We should’ve sent it back. But we’re just not the sort of people who do that.

Awesome restaurant with interesting menu. I had the 4 cheese pasta and had no regrets at all - I could have drink a glass full of that sauce.
Our waitress was very kind and took the time to discuss with us and it made us feel very welcome. A very nice experience overall. The restaurant looks a little impersonal, but that was of no consequence.

This a hotel restaurant but you would never know it. You can access right off the street. We went for breakfast twice and it was very good both times. The place is clean and the staff are professional

Our reservation was for 5:30 on Saturday night. We were the only people in the restaurant until about 6 when another couple showed up and then another couple came in when we were leaving. That was the first sign. We ordered a bottle of wine as we were celebrating our anniversary. The lovely lady who was our server took our order and came back about 10 min later with a fellow who opened and served the wine. I have a bad allergy to scents and I had to hold my breath and turn away from him due to the amount of cologne he was wearing. When our meal came, the sight of it was disappointing. My salmon was over cooked and very dry. Some of the vegetables appeared to have been frozen and freezer burned on the edges. The peel in my garlic mashed potatoes couldn't even be chewed. My husband ordered a steak and it was tasteless, tough and low grade beef. The mushrooms that came with it looked like they were freeze dried and didn't have enough time to soak! Desert - small piece of cheesecake with strawberry syrup drizzled over the top for $12! Apple Galette whose thinly sliced apples were chewy. I've had a better apple danish from Sobey's! A very expensive meal that was terrible. I have had better meals at a restaurant like Denny's or Smitty's! Terrible anniversary celebration.
Southwestern Omelette was really good! Morning fries delicious. Attentive staff. Morning atmosphere very nice.

Excellent service, great breakfast. I had the smashed avocado toast with a side of poached eggs and smoked salmon one day and then a full breakfast the next day. They were both fresh, tasty and good value.
Enjoyed breakfast in the early morning. The server, Angela, was super friendly and attentive, checking on me just the right moment. I had Wellbeing Omelette, which was fresh and delicious. The atmosphere was warm and inviting😊🫶
