Best Chinese food in Nova Scotia hands down. My group of 7 was completely blown away by how delicious everything was. The service was a 10/10, and the chef even came by to check in and chat with us. He was so kind and genuine - you can truly tell he pours his heart into every dish.

Delicious and satisfying without a buffet or chicken ball in sight! I went on a Friday night with a friend for her birthday and we could not have asked for a better experience. Our server was delightful, attentive but not overly so, and able to answer all of our questions. And the chef came out to chat with us during dessert! The food was exquisite. Perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. We had chicken dumplings, spring rolls, egg rolls, crispy tofu steak, and spicy chicken with loads of fresh chilis and garlic. The sauces and dips complemented but did not overwhelm. Portions sizes were just right. Dessert was amazing, little tarts that had to be ordered when we ordered our meal to give the chef time. The crust would have earned a Hollywood handshake-crispy, tender, and beautiful lamination. The ambience was terrific, too, cozy without being stuffy. Another gem of a restraurant along this stretch of the Bedford Highway, well worth the short drive from the peninsula.

If you’re looking for the most authentic and delicious Chinese food in HRM, look no further than The Orient. I dined there again this past Friday and brought one of my closest friends for her first visit. She loved it so much she’s returning next week with her husband.
This is not a buffet spot, and you won’t find the usual long list of deep-fried combo plates. Instead, The Orient focuses on authentic Cantonese cuisine made with fresh, local ingredients. Even the dips and sauces are crafted in-house. You can truly taste the difference.
Chef Ivan is originally from Hong Kong and a Gold Medal winner at the Canadian Culinary Championship. He brings genuine passion and skill to every dish. I make a point of trying something new each time I visit — which is no small challenge, considering how many favourites I already have.
Their fried rice deserves special mention: light, fluffy, generously filled with vegetables, and never greasy or weighed down by old oil. It’s exceptional. (When a side-dish is this good, you know the main courses are going to really knock your socks off.)
They offer takeout and delivery, but dining in is absolutely worth it. The atmosphere is warm and inviting — perfect for a date night, an evening out with friends, or a relaxed family dinner. The music is soft enough that you can actually hear one another speak, and the overall feeling is calm and restorative.
The staff are consistently friendly, and you’ll leave with generous leftovers, feeling satisfied but not weighed down.
I can’t recommend The Orient highly enough.

Just finishing up our meal right now, and it was fantastic, as usual! The chef (Ivan) even brought out a complementary sample of a new rib dish he will be adding to the menu soon (with a delicious grated cheese from the Annapolis Valley)

A wonderful restaurant. Anyone who knows anything about food will get this place , already excited for our next visit. Chef Ivan came to our table and was a very gracious host , easily the best Chinese I’ve had in Nova Scotia and not a chicken ball in sight. I would highly recommend it
Pre ordered the Ginger Scallion Lobster experience as well as the Fusion Peking Duck and it made for an unforgettable family meal.
Get both the Dry-Fried Green Beans and the Salt & Pepper Squid; the only way to choose one over the other would be by coin toss and now is no time for scarcity.
Yang Chow Fried Rice was more than the sum of its parts and the Sweet & Sour Pork was perfectly balanced and deep.
10/10 no notes.

best lobster i had in a long time!
We had a tasting menu and it was excellent. When booking on Open Table the site suggested the tasting menu, we went for it and don't regret it. This specific tasting menu would qualify as fine dining. The chef also offers more traditional Chinese and Canadian-Chinese dishes/experience. We will be going back to try more dishes. The chef came several times to explain his dishes and get feedback.

This is the best Chinese food in the city possibly just the best restaurant in Halifax, if you're looking for a place that cares of the food they're serving and the satisfaction of their guests it is a must try. Do yourself a favor and get the braised pork belly and also try the egg roll! But honestly everything in the menu is fantastic go in with an open mind and be ready to be amazed

Truly a hidden gem, the best Chinese food I've had in HRM. Everything made from scratch, best egg rolls you'll ever have. They even make their plum sauce themselves and it shows, not just visually but in taste.
We got the meal for two and it was incredible. Not overloaded with salt - the food was very balanced with a lot of flavor.
This isnt a canadian Chinese food place but much more authentic. If you like Chinese food you have to stop by.
Parking lot is a bit annoying to get in and out of but thats my only complaint.
