Not only is the food from sustainable sources but tastes really good. We had the braised beef and the lamb ravioli. Both excellent.

It's a nice little spot, with that said the burger was dry and the fries were just potatoes wedges. Which don't get me wrong potato wedges are fine and dandy, i was just expecting fries. Most of our party of people liked there food, salmon was good along with the other dishes. But I would not get the burger again. Remember this is just my experience, other people may like it more than me, keep that in mind.

This was a really cool spot. I did some looking on Reddit before going for dinner and didn't see this place as a recommendation - ended up trying it out as we happened to walk by. Very glad we tried it though! Our server was very knowledgeable and made recommendations based on flavour profiles which you don't see often. Everything was priced similar to other bars but the ingredients were clearly high quality. We had the beet salad, (bright, fresh, zesty), lamb burger, (hearty, rich, flavourful), and salmon (crispy, light, balanced). I'd definitely come back.

Food was fresh and flavorful. I felt very safe eating here as a very sensitive celiac and can report I had no reactions afterwards. So many gluten free options it was hard to choose! We even got a gluten and dairy free dish that everyone was able to share. Will be returning for sure.
One criticism is the seating which could be more comfortable, I found the big chairs to be very awkward to maneuver and had to play musical chairs to get to the washroom.

What a great find. You wouldn't know how great it is walking by. Digby scallops were superb, seafood chowder with fresh shrimp and clams. Local farms, local food, local beer.

This is more than just about great local food and drinks! In May I visited Halifax for the first time and the local friends invited us to The Wooden Monkey. We were an international group that felt welcomed. The staff was fun. The story of this restaurant with its beginnings made me see how the local community can transform tragedy into support, legacy and connection. You'll find a unique blend of history, sustainability, entrepreneurship and love for community in relics, decorations or pieces of furniture.
In challenging times their story stands true to resiliency and culture that goes beyond time. If I won't be back I'll still be touched by what's possible where we are.
