The portions are incredibly generous — honestly, the amount of meat in the noodles shocked me (in a good way!). The flavors are bold, rich, and unapologetically Chinese — not something “adjusted” for Western palates.
The young owner is warm, friendly, and clearly puts heart into his food and business. Prices are very reasonable, and you can tell they care more about customers eating well than cutting corners.
Highly recommend if you want a true taste of China or just want to be properly fed!

It wasn’t a very good experience. The dishes were over-seasoned, with an overwhelming soy-sauce flavor—very salty—and everything looked dark, stained by the soy sauce. It felt like the food was cooked by an apprentice. Could be better.

Located near the harbor front, with easy access to the broad walk, the food is amazing! During the time we were visiting Halifax, we went there twice for some home style noodles and vermicelli. It’s a gem in Halifax for sure!

I went to eat Xiaoyu's Malatang today. It was really delicious. The portion was huge and the taste was great. The sesame paste tasted amazing. It only cost 14.99. It's the best Malatang in Hafa.
I ordered from Uber, and got a fever(38.2C), headache and diarrhea after I had the food.

After changing the boss, the taste is not even the slightest bit worse. I strongly recommend that you don’t waste money to eat here. My girlfriend and I ordered the classic Guilin rice noodles and salt and pepper chicken steak. The chicken fillet was fried into a lump. The quality control of each bowl of rice noodles is also different. After I mixed it thoroughly, the rice noodles were basically still white, except for the spicy pepper flavor that the boss added. There is no brine smell. Because it didn't taste very good and I didn't want to waste it, I packed it up and took it home. I heated it in the microwave at night and the powder became even more difficult to eat and broke as soon as I pinched it. I'm from Guangxi and I think the previous Xiaoyu was really delicious. Why don't you, the new boss, take over this store and change the name?
