I have been to this place plenty of times now. I had their blueberry pancakes which are quite decent to be honest. The quantity they give is good, hard to finish it alone. The ambience is lively and warm, although it might be hard to find room during the lunch hour because it is always packed around that time in summer, so you might have to wait in line for a couple of minutes.

Coconut Tai Soup was so good I had to write a review. Would like to buy by the gallon. I was feeling under the weather and this was wellness and comfort in a bowl.

Bacon cheese burger was good, a little plain and way to much relish but it was alright, would recommend

Simple, tasty food. Classic diner type menu, and all tasted as hope. Simple atmosphere, but no complaints.

We stayed in Cape Breton for 9 days and had wonderful food everywhere we went. My mind kept going back to that AMAZING bowl of chowder I had the first day there at the Coal Miners Cafe. I think it was the best chowder I have ever had, truly! Though we tried chowder at other places, including one that claimed was "award winning", the chowder at Coal Miners Cafe was the BEST in my opinion. Staff was very friendly, and me being a history buff whose family came from that area many years ago had me enjoying all the old photos in the restaurant as well.

Got there for brunch five minutes too late. Had a breakfast-type sandwich instead. It was okay, but not outstanding. Super nice people and a cute little restaurant.

I recently visited The Coal Miner and was thoroughly impressed with my dining experience. The seafood chowder was a standout dish—rich, flavorful, and packed with generous amounts of shrimp and haddock. Each spoonful was a delightful mix of creamy goodness and fresh seafood.

The Rueben sandwich was another highlight. The smoked meat was perfectly seasoned and tender, and the rye bread was deliciously fresh and flavorful, making for a truly satisfying sandwich. My son also enjoyed his burger, which was cooked to perfection and came with all the right fixings.

Overall, The Coal Miner delivered a memorable meal with excellent service and a cozy atmosphere. It's a spot I would highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy delicious, well-prepared food.
