Tried calling no one picked up so I walked over to order and it was empty so Im not sure how you can miss a phone call. Brisket Sandwich was ok, except I had to use a fork/knife to eat it because there is so much on the sandwich the low grade bread roll falls apart. The meat itself was ok but the rest was mid. Also it was 18$ for just a sandwich, no drink or sides haha

I’m honestly shocked reading these great reviews because I was disappointed in the food I got today. I paid $7 for 1/4 lb of brisket and was surprised when I only received 2 small slices. The brisket was bland and way under-seasoned. I had to add two packets of salt before I could eat it. The jalapeño mac was great, but I expected it to be spicy or have more than a one-note flavor. It was cheesy and good overall, but the main course was a let down.

We stopped by on our way to Las Vegas. Smokin’ J’s Barbecue is the best. Stop for a nice break or lunch. The service was excellent and the Brisket is drop dead good. Don’t pass it by or you will be sorry.

These ratings are based on a BBQ joint. We enjoyed our meals. My wife had a 1/2# of brisket that was very good, with a nice bark. I had a pulled pork sandwich and ordered a side of fries. Both were very good. I always like good fries, and these were. Very simple and hot from the frier, and a large portion. My only negative, is I'd like to see (taste) a little less smoke. All in all, a great dining experience.

We got a little of everything, ribs were great, brisket was ok, sausage not very good. As far as sides, beans were good, Mac and cheese and fries were excellent. You order at the counter pretty much self serve but if you need anything they are prompt to get it. Other than the sausage it was a good meal

No.1 stop after Death Valley visit, is a must

Best ribs I’ve ever had in my life, well seasoned, tender,
Brisket are juicy, delicious, the pickles are refreshing
Jalapeño mac & cheese is creamy and aromatic
Jalapeño sausage is a lil bit spicy but man, is so good, you will despite the hot and keep biting

Well-lited, spacious, friendly staff served with passion and patience

Worst meal we’ve had in a long time. We came when the restaurant first opened and both of us had burgers. Came back today and was told “we’ve never served burgers!” If you look close at the menu photos you’ll see pictures of a burger and a cheeseburger. The banana pudding was grainy and gray colored. Neither of us could eat it.

We sooooo were looking forward to having some good bbq. We travel fulltime and have had ALOT of great bbq while in Texas. We were traveling thru this Nevada town and decided to try this place out while there. We went on a Friday early evening. They were fairly busy while we were there. We got a good bit of food to sample everything - tried a pound of brisket, a full rack of ribs, one sausage link, mac n cheese, beans, a banyan pudding, one drink. The ribs were excellent. Tender. The brisket was good, not great. A little too chewy yet. And a bit too much smoke for us. The sausage link had good flavor but the texture was a mealy. The sides were decent. The banana pudding was okay. The BBQ sauce was top notch!!! It was priced as bbq usually is - $94 for everything. The restaurant is quite quaint decor & clean and the restrooms are spotless! Had a really nice outdoor seating area. The counter staff were very friendly. The cook seemed a little grumbly during the dinner rush as they were running out of a couple things.

GREAT BRISKET! Lovely Host. Happened to be in the area and had many miles to go on our travels so we got a sandwich to go. The host heard us say that were taking it for later and made sure to package the bun without the meat already on it. HUGE ATTENTION TO DETAIL. SANDO WAS DELICIOUS BY THE WAY. I would say the only thing that would make this place better was if there was an actual bar, however there are 2 across the street from them.

Plan on returning next time I'm in the area.

Did not expect much, pulled in because not many other options en route, but was positively surprised by the tasty barbecue - both brisket and pulled pork were very juicy, tender and tasty. Definitely recommended as a lunch or dinner stop if you're driving to or from Death Valley.
