Roy's Bar and Grill

My group and I only come here for trivia. The food is fairly pricey and not worth the price. The cocktails are good and a wide variety of draft beer. Tonight, the waitress we had was a poor representation of the business in my opinion. Most of the time, they are fast, know what they are doing, and seem to enjoy their job. Tonight, the one we had, Lala, was the opposite. She gave us waters one at a time, one of the other waitresses had to give us menus and answer food questions, she was very slow, and just generally seemed like she didn’t know what she was doing. One of us got an extremely rare burger. We waited for her to return so we could let her know. 10 minutes later, we ended up having to walk it up to the kitchen ourselves. Normally, i would brush it off as a bad night and move on, but she took things to another level when she wasn’t happy by how we tipped. We had three separate checks. Myself, and one of the other couples, did not tip %20 for obvious reasons. Not only did she complain to us in person, but then proceeded to loudly complain to other costumers about us and other waitresses because we didn’t tip the way she wanted us too. The other couple with us paid in cash. She handed them change and explained she was keeping “her portion” of the change. That is not okay and I hope she reads this review.

Good food. Kyra was awsome. This is a local spot in my neighborhood and its worth the stop. The service can be hit or miss but Kyra was very nice, took care of us, and we will return because of her!

They had two servers working at lunch time it wasn't busy at all. Each server at two tables and they would disappear for long intervals. We waited for 20 minutes to get mayonnaise for our burger never did and ended up finishing the burger when they said that they had forgot and they were sorry. So needless to say it was about 30 minutes later and we had asked both servers for it. Not only that our drinks were not refilled. The food tasted great but the horrible customer service shadowed the taste!

Usually go here on Thursday nights with my friends for DJ Trivia....go Junk Yard Dogs...lol Anyway, we have fun, the staff is awesome and food is pretty good. If you're a chicken fried steak fan , you're definitely going to be rewarded....they're huge ! And our somewhat personal server Lala makes the night even more special. I really enjoy this place!

Great service and the best quality food I've had in the area. This place deserves a much higher rating, IMO. However, as we were leaving we spoke with some very disgruntled customers. They were very unhappy about the bartender being on the phone too much, neglecting their service. They were not pleased about the amount of time they spent trying to get a check & cash out.

To counter that experience, we were well taken care of by our waitress.

They had a solid draft selection and a tasty-looking cocktail menu.

My chicken fried steak was one of the best I've had (it's my go-to for new diners.) It was tender and flavorful with ZERO gristle--a level of meat quality so rare I can't remember the last time I've eaten a CFS like this. The crust was huge and crunchy. The sawmill gravy was excellent (my first time hearing this term). Pots & veggies were tasty.

Fish & Chips were solid. The grilled lemon was a classy touch.

I can't wait to come back!

A week later: couldn't resist the CFS again 😂 While it wasn't grisle-free, it was still as excellent as before.

We sat at the bar and Bob offered us perfect service-- checking in when appropriate, ensuring we had everything we needed--even intercepting a mistranslation from the kitchen. Love this place, especially when I have a hard time finding quality food that isn't too expensive in the area.

3rd visit, ~a week later: one server, one bartender, two cooks - WAAAAY too few staff for how busy they were.
The staff were doing their damndest, but there's only so much limited staff can do. Folks were waiting for a seat for quite a while. At times, several groups were waiting for a seat with no staff on the floor (helping in the kitchen, we discovered). Sometimes the bartender would pause a drink to act as a host. It was a great team doing their best. Management needs to hire and schedule more staff. Good was great as usual.

Went for lunch and really liked it. I had a house salad with blackened chicken. Was only $13 and really good. My wife had an Apple Slaw salad with blackened chicken also $13 and really enjoyed. Big portions.

Outstanding brunch, the best customer service ever! We were celebrating our 47th wedding anniversary and were comped a slice of cheesecake. Absolutely the best cheesecake we’ve ever had. Please give this place a try, food and service is always impeccable.

I rarely leave reviews but this place is so good I had too. I came for lunch. I had the fish a chips. Awesome!!! I don't like Cole slaw but theirs is different. Mmmm.. Ate it all... I don't like tarter sauce. Didn't eat it all but i did try it
.. very good. Everything was fantastic. I was too full to try the Creme Brule but the couple across from me had it.. I can tell by their reactions that it was very good. I will be back and I will try the creme Brulee next time.. the service and atmosphere wonderful... 👌

Best fish-n-chips around. The food is well prepared and tastes Gourmet. Medium priced entrees and low to upper class cocktails. A tucked-away location with both inside and outside dining. I love this place.

My server was super attentive and she was awesome but the food was very mid. We got the ribeye burger and it was burnt and undercooked at the same time and the crème brûlée was burnt in the cup and the custard was super sweet while the burnt taste overwhelmed the crème brûlée itself. I’m kinda disappointed. It was our first time coming to this restaurant as well.

Great service and the food was awesome! I had fish tacos, and the carrot cake was so good! I definitely recommend this place and will be back soon!!! 🤩
