A Carson City institute, the Cracker Box has been doing it right for a long time. I just stopped by while in town for business and ordered the black and Bleu chicken sandwich. The chicken was blackened and grilled just right with a good amount of crispy to it while remaining tender and juicy inside. This was our first time eating here—the food was good, the atmosphere was great, but the service was less than mediocre—our server was more interested in talking to her co-workers than taking care of her customers—she never came back to see how everything was and we had to keep asking for drink refills.
This place is definitely not on our list of places to eat at again!!

My wife and I have eaten here several times so far and have always enjoyed our food prepared where we could see. I have found the Cracker Box Diner to be an excellent place locally to enjoy breakfast. We plan to try lunch soon. Addendum: 2026 - My wife died 3 years ago. After her death, I ate at the Cracker Box several times a week for breakfast. I found it to be excellent and the waitresses were friendly and competent.
