Overpriced, cold atmosphere. Other than the name from Winnemucca, nothing fit for me in Carson City. As predicted......it has closed. Being generous with average rating.....it was not average.

Sorry for anyone going of busineas Service was quite good very attentive The food was sadly poor at best. First course was minestrone it was way over done with oregano. Second salad and beans excellent dressing quite delicious bean were very flavorful Third course basque chicken average at best whipped potatoes very good. Broccoli not over cooked but not green and tasted poor Main lamb shank. Lamb was moist and tender but gravy was vey salty and ruined the dish Desert bread pudding was overly no bread and the worst I've ever had By

The chicken wings are delicious! The service was good and the owner John is very kind. It breaks my heart to hear that they are closing at the end of the month. I guess I will travel to Winnemucca.

Went for an Anniversary Dinner. Service was pretty good...I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak ad well as another in the party. Worst ever! Grey hue to the meat..coating fell completely off..meat was so full of gristle I couldn't eat it and the few bites I tried had NO flavor...another member of our party had ordered shrimp and got 3....yes THREE . There are better Basque places in Gardnerville. I can't see myself spending what they want for their food...may try again in a year or so....

I was disappointed in the service I received at Dinner service on 8/30. I have had lunch here before but this was our first dinner experience. To celebrate our anniversary, My husband, two children young children and I arrive early at around 5:10 pm and were the first guest seated inside for dinner. We ordered from the specials. I ordered a New York steak medium rare with onion rings and received a well done one about and hour and 15 minutes later. There was no one to attending to our table to tell that the grey flavorless rubbery slab was not what I expected. Besides, four other parties had come and gone well before we received our entrees and our young family did not want to risk staying another hour. Beside the marked lack of attention to our table, the food was delicious when first served but spread out over such an extensive amount of time that dishes that should have come together were cold once everything was on the table. It should be noted we only ordered two entrees and nothing special in addition. While I had expected a leisurely evening, I had not intended to spend over 2.5 hours just at the Martin. I can only imagine the serves decided a young family was not worth their time, that the two middle aged couples seated together would tip better and that is why they got enjoy their meal in half the time. We had been excited to go out and left tired and never wanting to come to dinner again.

Great family style dining. The portions are plentiful and you will not leave hungry.

Food is served family style. A little expensive, but great food.. Service was fast and cheerful.

First impression of food not too satisfied. Lamb shank was extremely salty and over cooked. Serving of fries looked like someone already ate from the plate. Had to wait for silverware for 15 minuets.. 15 minuets just to get acknowledged. I did liked the outside music and cheap on draft beef for happy hour

The greeter informs you that there is one rule... if you leave hungry it's your fault. Haha The seating is to close together. You must share with a group of 6, so I ended up with very little side dishes and no wine. When I asked the server to bring more table wine she explained that I would have to purchase another bottle for the table, The Steak was so tough that I finally gave up, The waitress asked if I wanted a box, I explained it was the toughest steak I've ever had. She took the steak to the chef who said it was the toughest steak he'd ever seen. So they reduced the bill to sides only.... I left hungry. Never again.

Good Basque restaurant. Nice selection of items. Great lamb shank with a little pile of chopped garlic atop it!

I have been here twice for dinner on a Friday and enjoyed my meal both times. The soup (New England Clam Chowder) was very tasty. All of the sides were good. The first time I ordered the Cioppino special for my entree and thoroughly enjoyed it. The second time I order the Steak Charlotte. It too was a special that night and smaller version of the their signature steak (I think). The steak was a little fatty, even for a rib-eye, but it was still good. There are many options on the menu to try. I will go back again and hopefully try this place at lunch.

The food is excellent, the service was ok. If you leave hungry, it's your own fault. The food options are pretty similar to other basque restaurants in the region, but they added chicken, mashed potatoes and corn. All of the sides were amazing, you could easily eat just the sides and leave full and satisfied. I ordered the lamb shank which was great, juicy, tender and very flavorful. The Martin steak was described as "one of the best steaks I've ever had" and the salmon was also good. They recommend putting the beans on top of the salad, try it, it was surprisingly yummy. Also, make sure you try the prairie dust, on everything, and then add a little extra! My only complaint was we were charged for the adult pork chop instead of the kids option. I unfortunately didn't catch this until we left. Overall, an excellent find!

Our first visit and we took advantage of the Basque dinner entree menu.Several courses served family style with traditional flavors. Come hungry and you won't be disappointed. Excellent service. seating is family style also so you may end up sharing a table with other patrons.

My wife and & I had dinner at the Martin Hotel for the 1st time. Really enjoyed it. Clean, excellent service & friendly. We split a full dinner because there is usually lots of food- soup, salad, bread, 3 sides, entrée, wine & dessert. Still needed a doggie bag. For the entrée we had the chicken fried steak. Spot on perfect. Steaks, scampi etc. brought out to other patrons looked great. Price was reasonable for what we got. Only thing we didn't like was the apple bread pudding. Sorry if I insult someone's grandmother but, yuk. To the owner- try a different recipe or better yet just serve ice cream. Hope that helps. Looking forward to coming back.
