We chose Sonney's for our Thanksgiving meal because we both love tasty barbecue. My husband doesn't eat poultry, so I'm the one who chose the 1/2 chicken platter and ribs (we had ordered brisket which was the main item we were both looking forward to, but they ran out of brisket before they could fill our order. I had called over a week in advance to make sure our order was accounted for since it was an upcoming holiday, and we were planning to drive over an hour each way to pick it up. Low & behold, they ran out of brisket nonetheless. I knew they would be closed Thanksgiving day so the day prior I called five separate times. Each call went to voice mail, but voice mail was full, so I sent our order in using their website's contact form early that Wednesday morning (they told me calling in our order the same day as pick up was fine). I received no reply. I sent it in a second time and called again. Still, nothing. Finally, mid afternoon, they answered the phone, and told me no order was received online. We spent $125 for our food. As I said, no brisket; I got my husband a large cheeseburger (they forgot to include any fries w/the order). I paid extra for two beef ribs on the side. The bones were huge. There was four bites of meat on each bone for $7.50 a piece. The pork ribs I got had a kind of strange taste to them, but I thought it was my tastebuds, maybe. But it was disconcerting. The 1/2 chicken was half cooked and smothered with a five alarm fire coating. I took one bite. I couldn't eat it. I told them nothing spicy, please. My mouth was on fire. I threw it out. The side of mashed taters were terrible. There was no gravy. The collard greens were greasy and bland. The side of beans were at least edible but I had nothng to eat with them. I paid $12 for a ceasar salad. They mixed the sopping wet dressing into the salad. It was like mush. We threw that out too. My husband tried to eat it, for me, but he couldn't do it. The bread pudding was greasy and way too sweet for two diabetic. Whatever that white stuff was they gave us to put on top of it looked disgusting. We threw all of that out too. The few bites I got off the beef ribs left an awful taste in my mouth and gave me horrible indigestion for hours afterwards. I had to apologize to my husband for picking this place for our holiday meal. We ate hot dogs and pizza from 7-11 for our Thanksgiving dinner. The one thing I was thankful for after such the unmemoriable meal, was that my husband and I were together. I nearly lost him to a stroke last year, so every day, my getting to wake up beside him, is a holiday.

Closed, very disappointed to see it closed
We had no idea where to eat. We spotted this place and decided to give it a try, even though there were no cars in their lot. We'll be back. Great service, great atmosphere, great prices and the brisket tacos were sooooooooooooo good!!!!!!!!!!

Was excited to try this place. Ordered 2 appetizers to try the meats so we could then choose our entrees and some BBQ to take home. Places smelled amazing. Waiter was pleasant. After waiting an hour for our food and several people getting their food who arrived way past our arrival we asked to pay for the ice tea my husband drank half way. A different waitress went to check on our food and we heard yelling in the kitchen and got worried that our food was going to be bad or rushed. Since there was nobody to pay the $2.75 we decided to leave. Sad experience but maybe this wasn't the right place for use. Next time we drive thru Minden we won't be wasting an hour of our life and still leave hungry.

We have been evacuated due to the pay fire and our waitress today, unfortunately did not catch her name but blonde sweet soul was a doll she definitely made the experience, fast service wonderful food and very inviting. Our favorites the lamb burger, Mac n Cheese and the chicken/brisket plate. Onion rings are a must!

I'm sitting here now and just canceled my purple piggy ritual.
They took too long to make it.
I gave to our server. He said if I didn't want it he would have it.
Still waiting for our Pig Wings.

Had an amazing dining experience here. Very friendly waiting, prompt food preparation, and their nachos were honestly better than the stuff I'd get from my regular Mexican food spot
Vegetarian options: Has some vegetable only options including veg-only sandwiches.

We came in with out looking at anything on online, and we were pleasantly surprised, especially since we live in Texas at how delicious the brisket and baby baby ribs at Sonney's bbq. The potato salad was perfect as well. Our server was friendly and very attentive to our drinks and such. Overall, I would would highly recommend this gem.

Don't get the "fried pickles" they'll just give you cold, breaded spears & whole pickles. Also, the waitress "forgot we were here" multiple times, even though we were the only people there aside from the table she was serving directly next to us.

Had to cone to Gardnerville for work, saw this place as I was passing through town, after I finished checking on the project, I looked it up, was convinced to try it out. Soooo glad I did! Had beef ribs and brisket with all the sides... couldn't eat it all, but that just means I'll get to enjoy it twice today.. highly recommended! My server was delightful, friendly and attentive.
