Why is this terrific old saloon being touted as a 4 star American restaurant? While it is beyond cool in its old western cowboy charm, it is a saloon where locals, bikers and tourists come to drink all day and relive the bygone days. It is not a date night restaurant in any sense.

Love this bar. It is filled with old school rustic charm. The bartenders are courteous and genial. The hose specialty drinks are done to order, and reasonably priced at $11.00, and the well drinks are only $6.00. It was cold out today, so my wife and I had a hot buttered rum, and a blackberry hot toddie. Both were excellent, as Dee, the bartender, made them both with care. I only avoid this place during summer tourist season as it can get crowded.

We stayed at Walleys timeshare for a week. The saloon and restaurant is the only restaurant at the resort. It is closed 3 days a week. When we arrived for dinner at 7:10 on Thursday when posted closing time is 8pm the saloon was closed and restaurant denied us service. The hostess scolded us for not making a reservation. The resort elevators did not post information about the restaurant and need to make a reservation . No matter, The restaurant was by no means busy. The staff simply did not want to work. Hospitality anyone? I have never felt less welcome. By that time it was too late to find somewhere else to go in the local area, good thing we had enough food to cook dinner in the timeshare. It’s a shame because I expected the saloon and restaurant to be a highlight of the trip. We will be sure to make other plans on future trips.

Historic old saloon, oldest in the area. Still has its frontier charm. Great local brews and decent prices. A bit of nostalgia and history.

If you like history, hell . Even if you don't. You're missing a little piece of the past if you don't make your way to this hidden gem. Prices are right and the "Diamond dust" mirror behind the bar is a story in itself.

Nevada’s oldest saloon is the cutest place, so much history it really takes you back. Stopped in for an afternoon drink on the way to Lake Tahoe and enjoyed their outdoor seating area. Really nice to see history preserved for future generations.
