I've dined in their Vegas other location some years ago, and I enjoyed it. We decided to try out a location closer to us. My experience wasn't up to par. They have F1 Wagyu on the menu, which I wasn't familiar with. I do know the distinction between Wagyu and Kobe (not all Wagyu is Kobe, but all Kobe is Wagyu). I was eager to try, but asked if theirs was Kobe (pardon my ignorance). Rather than acknowledge that she didn't know, our waitress enthusiastically replied yes... it was Kobe. Naturally, it wasn't. I would have expected the server to know or profess that she had to ask. I mean, I didn't know either until I looked it up online at home. We chose Echo & Rig partly because, as a butcher too, they specialize in the cuts and their woodfire cooking. Unfortunately, we may have eaten too early in the evening (7 or so). Our steaks (an F1 Wagyu Skirt and an F1 Wagyu Filet) were both overly charred. The smokiness we were after was present, but you had to contend with an unpleasant amount of carbon to achieve it. JUST a bit too much. Another concerning issue was that our steaks were approximately 30% oversalted. This detracted from the flavors; the sauces became necessary to cut the salt. We asked for the (complimentary) sauces on the side, so we had the choice. Oh well. On the plus side, the cuts were very tender and generally cooked to our request. The only issues we had were that the cuts were somewhat irregular in thickness, so the cooking was uneven (erring on the side of being undercooked). Once you looked beyond the extra char and salt, the flavors were what you would expect. We ordered mac & cheese and gnocchi. Both sides were very good. The Old Fashioned I ordered was up to par and tasty, though nothing overly special. All in all, we enjoyed the meal, but given the competition at this price point and the culinary misses during this visit, I think we will look elsewhere next time.

Had no idea this place was even there. Feels a little cold and unwelcoming when you walk in and are seated. But, our waitress was very friendly and polite, gave great recommendations on the food choices. Food took longer to get than expected but was excellent once served. Cauliflower dish was amazing, would go back just for that! Drinks were generous servings. Ended up being a great experience and evening.

Nice restaurant which is very noisy making a casual conversation hard to listen to. The greeter who acknowledges your reservation could learn to smile and make you feel a bit more welcome. Now on to the positive, service was good, food was delicious, and the cocktails were outstanding. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant for a nice steak dinner.

We were seated in the back which was nice because it was VERY noisy. Unfortunately, it was so cold that I had to eat with my winter coat on the entire time. The food and service were great!

I was there for a business lunch. The heat was blasting on high over our table and it was very uncomfortable. I ordered the salmon and it was awful, tough in the center and inedible. Overall very expensive for a poor culinary experience.

We had an excellent experience at Echo and Rig. Superior food and excellent service. We arrived a bit early for our reservation but the staff was kind enough to seat us promptly and provided an excellent evening. Would highly recommend to all!

The food was generally good but surprised that the ribeyes were so fatty and the bavette chewy. Flavor was fine and the sides were excellent but have eaten at the Sacramento location and the steaks were higher quality. Also surprised how loud it was in the restaurant. We had trouble hearing each other at our table.

Quaint and staff made sure to make our stay pleasant and our needs attended to at all times. Food was a solid 10/10

Well, I believe the food could be absolutely delicious, however, I feel as though training is needed in a big way. Serving scorched/charred broccolini is unacceptable. Steak was so so definitely not medium rare as requested. As far as the waitress, while she was somewhat pleasant, she needed desperately to have training not only on the food but on service skills. I asked her about a cocktail drink of which she claimed to be her absolute favorite, when asking her what was in it She claims she couldn't remember! If something is your favorite, you know what's in it! Also, when asking her about the soufflé for dessert, I specifically asked if it was a Grand Marnier soufflé and she claims yes that's it, That's the one..., when in fact, it was a vanilla and dark chocolate mix soufflé. The bus boy who is from Canada cannot remember his name, was Exceptional and clearly made our evening.

The food and service is always good. They have a nice brunch menu. This is one of my go to brunches.

When you first walk in the music seems pretty loud for the setting, but once seated it didn't seem as loud. Everyone chose a different steak and they were all delicious and cooked to perfection. I would probably pass on the vegetables next time and just do the steak. Service was pretty good, we did have to ask for the bread and you could tell they had regulars that received more attention, but we will definitely go back again.

Laura was an amazing server and the food was amazing. However, the bar has been out of stock on most wines and cocktail mixers for months, which is concerning..

I’m not gonna even hold you. I wish I could give it a 4— it’s a 3.5 out of 5, and here’s why:

I’ve been to Echo & Rig about five times. The first three visits were excellent — solid 5/5. But lately, consistency has slipped. On my most recent visit (9/16/25), I ordered the fries (they’re known for them). when it’s on point, there’s season two perfection, but they came out greasy with absolutely no seasoning - not even salt! The Cab and Merlot I tried were both off.

The time before, I ordered the Steakhouse Salad. The first time, it was scrumptious - BANGING!! . The very next day, it was bland, smaller in portion, and felt like a different chef prepared it.

Atmosphere-wise, the patio has so much potential but feels neglected. It’s dark and uninviting, leaving you to either eat outside with the crickets . Literally, the last time I ate on the patio, this one crickets kept jumping on my table 🤣. Inside is cool, bit but it’s just not what I want . I’ve been working all day inside. I want to unwind outside. Why not add some lights and create a vibe? I ended up switching to take-out.

When Echo & Rig is on, it’s one of the best dining experiences in The District. But when it’s off, it’s mid. For now, if I want consistency, I may lean toward neighbors like North Italia or Local. Still, this place has promise — I just hope management listens and brings the quality back up to match its reputation.
