Had a great experience coming here, by far my favorite location! Every time I've gone, they continue to show great service. Was finally able to ask their names to give them a shoutout here! Thank you to the front of house team Juan, Natalie, Camryn & Alberto.

Another great experience here. Thank you to the team members who always ensure great service. I believe adonis and aniyah were working the front. Young and hard working. You love to see it. Will be back again!

Had an absolutely amazing time at this location because of Adonyas and Aniyah. It's the staff like those two that keep customers happy and coming back. Always smiling and showing genuine interest in having a conversation and ensuring you get everything you like. I came in late right before closing and they still gave me great choices with was left. Can't wait to go back and run into them again!

I stopped by Makai Island Grill and ordered one of my usual go-to combos — chicken katsu and BBQ chicken, plus sides of Hawaiian poke and spicy mayo poke. One thing I appreciate about this spot is the convenience. It’s nice being able to grab both a solid plate lunch and poke in one stop without having to go to two different places.
The chicken katsu was crispy on the outside and tender inside, just how it should be. The BBQ chicken had good flavor and was cooked well, with that slightly sweet, savory glaze that pairs perfectly with rice. The portions were satisfying and came with the traditional plate setup, which always hits the spot when you’re craving island-style comfort food.
The poke was fresh and flavorful. The Hawaiian poke kept it simple and clean, while the spicy mayo had a nice kick without being overpowering. My only downside is that they don’t have a huge range of poke options compared to dedicated poke spots. The selection is a bit limited.
Overall, they’re consistently good and super convenient when you want both a plate and poke in one visit. Reliable spot that does the job.

12/29/25: on this visit we order the small plates. One Kalua Pork, the other teriyaki chicken. Serving of Kalua pork was fine. The plate was full just like the norm. The teriyaki chicken on the other hand, it look like it was only two bites. I questioned the serving size to the girl who made the plates. Her reasoning was odd. Either new employee error with poor customer service skills. Or smaller servings due to cost or chicken increase. One of us left hungry. We frequent this location two or three times a week. Another inconsistency.
Never fails. Purchase meals for the whole family. Person The person register ask if we want any sauce after he rings up the order. We get home and there is only one small container of teriyaki and one katsu sauce. Really needed extra sauce today. Chicken katsu and kalua pork is dry today.
Usually its really good but the past few visits I swear my katsu sauce was just a spicy ketchup or something similar, not good at all unlike the katsu sauce they previously would serve to me. Idk who chose to change up the sauce but thats a solid NO from me.

Best Food Ever !!! Just had surgery and a church family dropped off dinner for us and seriously made me so happy !!! It reminds me of the beach in San Diego when we would grill at the beach. I just love the teriyaki chicken and the rice is so sticky and amazing !!!! All of it !!! So delicious 😋

Very disappointing night at Makai, our salad was old with pink on all the edges, full of lettuce cores, obviously from a package and not fresh. The Poke was frozen solid and not fresh. We were never given an option for salad. Rice, macaroni salad and katsu chicken were fine. Tropicana and Ft Apache location

Place is clean. Staff are polite. Fast and good service. Parking is plenty. If your looking for a quick bite then this place is an ok choice. Not the best and not bad. Price is a little bit expensive as compee to others, good portion of food. We ordered the pork, chicken katsu, spicy and not spicy poke. Macaroni and kimchi we paid like 40 dollars plus tax and tip.

I had a bad experience, I must have ordered wrong. I ordered Poke thinking it was a bowl with rice and other stuff but it was just the fish and it really didn't seem fresh.

Food: Always Awesome and delicious (Great Menu) I just wish you guys had a marinated spicy chicken please!
Service: Great service at most locations, it would of been a five star but becarefull when you hire people with no communication skills or not willing to attend customers with a smile.
Atmosphere: Always nice and clean, the line goes pretty quick. A much better place to eat then that other T.Madness place.
Thank you
