Food very different from before I used to have at MAKINO. A little bit pricey if compared to another Sushi restaurant and the menu is sample, nothing special to describe.

It was first time to visit this restaurant. I prefer their traditional style sushi, crab and udon noodle. And my family loves owner of restaurant. I would like to come back soon😊

We have eaten here about 20 times,so we consider it to be good. They have good standards for variety, quality, and freshness. Nothing special, but good and consistent.

Self serve AYCE sushi! Lunch $29.99. Plenty of hot dishes as well like tilapia, teriyaki, and noodles.

I believe this is the last standing Makino AYCE restaurant in the west coast... This place used to be packed, only a few years back... I guess AYCE JAPANESE RESTAURANTS have lost a step or two within the last couple of years... Nevertheless, lunch on a Friday at 1pm, it was very slow... but the service was excellent! Food is still the same, nothing out of the ordinary. Hope they dont go under anytime soon.

4.5 stars considering the good value and decent taste.

Recommendation: Crab legs, LA Kalbi, and tempura shrimp, and rolls in general. They also have pretty good icecream for buffet (green tea, vanilla, mango, strawberry) but you have to ask them to scoop.

While they have a lot of different sushi rolls and nigiri, the overall variety leaves a bit to be desired. But the quality is pretty good so you there will be something for you. I was fine with most of their dishes. Fish quality is good overall as well.

Some items may be lukewarm, but they do make more time to time (at least for the tempura shrimp - even when there were a good amount left, they fried new ones out) so they tasted good. Weekday dinner $39.95 as of November 2025.

Food was cold, got there at opening time for the dinner buffet. The heated buffet was cold as they hadn't turned them on in advance. Not worth the $50 a person price.

Good food with plenty of options. Sushi was fresh, hot food was mouth watering and service was top notch. They also have udon and ramen station that you can order from. Overall, worth the price.

Went on Thursday night for dinner 40/ person definitely makes it not as busy as it was before; but for the quality it's worth it.
