I had heard that a Mead bar had opened downtown and I dropped what I was doing to read about it, today I made my way to Reno to check this place out and I am so stoked that I did! Just walking up to the joint I was excited, fantastic atmosphere rad staff and beyond delicious drinks! I have been looking for mead for my wedding and boy did I find it. Thank you Black Rabbit for everything that you are and I can't wait to share your brews at my ceremony!

At best, only adequate meads; incomparable compared to European blends. Not a good product representation at all plus a very rude Sunday afternoon meadtender . Will not go back!!

I wouldn't consider myself a big mead fan, but I was still quite interested to check this place out. Some friends were in town and I wanted to show them something unique to Reno. First, I love the look and feel of the place. It has a bit of an old English pub feel, with the large communal wooden tables, brick walls, and a classic looking black painted entrance. I also love their logo! It's also a bit modern with its large open room concept and piping in some cool tracks from a large speaker near the back wall. The gal at the bar was really friendly and walked us through the selection of drinks. We opted to split a flight of four meads. We selected the Church of Roger (their standard Mead), Hawaiian Ember (a jalapeño flavored), Rosemary Black (berry and rosemary), and the PB and J (a beer and mead combo.) Between the five of us at the table, taste reviews were mixed. Some liked a few, some didn't. Personal preference for the most part. I think the quality is there. I personally thought they were all pretty good. However, I tended to enjoy the flavored mead over the plain mead. I really enjoyed the Hawaiian Ember. Crisp and clean with a nice hint of heat. The PB and J is a collaboration between their neighbours Lead Dog (PB stout) and their own Rasbperry mead. It sounds weird but it was pretty good! All in all, I liked the ambience, the staff, and the mead enough to go back and try a few more!

Very helpful and informative staff who were also very attentive without being overbearing. Location actually had easy parking which was incredibly refreshing and a surprise downtown. The atmosphere within was very welcoming. Had a great time and will probably be back soon.

My husband and I were visiting Reno for the weekend and my mother-in-law suggested here, boy we were not disappointed. We had four people in our group, so we were able to try every mead on tap with their tasting flight options. I enjoyed all of them, I especially enjoyed the pineapple jalapeno flavor and they had a blackberry one I liked as well. They also have an alcohol free option that was great. The vibes of the place is fun and the service was friendly. There are also some great to go options if you want to enjoy mead at home or to bring to a party. I will be going again next time I am visiting Reno.

First off - Sarah ROCKS! We were among the first people to belly up to the bar on a Saturday night after visiting a nearby museum. Not knowing what we wanted to try we decided on the flight, duh. Glad we did. All of them were great. It's been years since I last sipped a good mead. The ambiance here = 5 stars. I'll definitely be going back for more chill experiences. Also mentioning they have a pop corn machine, huge plus IMO!!

So we stopped in for the warm drinks fundraiser, then we stayed for the Hawaiian Ember. Wow of wow it is awesome! Light and crisp, pineapple jalepeno flavor. Never thought I would like mead, but we loved it. We even got a growler to go. We will definitely be back, it was a great experience, but not the normal with two different tv station camera crews. The staff we interacted with were very friendly and willing to answer all of our questions.

Original flavors to sharpen the senses. So I've been fortunate to try meads from a lot of regions and they all have different nuances. This place is no exception. They veer toward the cider and the IPA realms with jalapenos mixed into some recipes. No food served here, yet. Friendly patrons. Relaxing gray color scheme interior in here.

The new locally owned meadery. Brewing with local Al Bees honey. Delicious selection of craft meads. Check out their tastying room while its still in start up. Meads will be available in bars around Reno in 2021.

Nice, cozy place. Loved the atmosphere. They had some really good flavors on tap - though I would have liked a few more options to choose from. Bartender (Sarah) was very friendly and funny.

This place is awesome! The meads are super tasty and refreshing, a nice change of pace from the typical brewery scene. The owners and staff are very friendly and offer excellent customer service. Give em a try! You won't be disappointed.

I deejayed a gathering of friends here a couple of nights ago and was very impressed by Black Rabbit Meads and their friendly staff. I've had mead before, and was under-impressed with the taste. I know it's mankind's oldest alcoholic beverage but I figured the taste is why humanity moved on to beer, wine, and spirits. But I was in for quite the opposite experience at Black Rabbit. The purveyors are proud of their meads and rightly so. I tried three that evening and I was blown away by the taste and complexities. First I tried the Blackberry/Rosemary brew. Hold your frickin' horses! What a combo! The viscosity of the mead is neither too watery or too thick (unlike my previous mead experiences) and the the taste- unbelievably delicious! I then tried the Pineapple/Jalapeno- yum! The pineapple balances the pepper with just a hint of heat. Double yum! Finally I tried the Peanut Butter variety. It was complex- indeed the first whiff reminded me of a chocolate Tootsie Pop and afterwards each drink was a bit different, especially if you didn't sip but took a goodly drink. I had the opportunity to drive around Belgium this Fall and partake in their amazingly first-class beer scene, and Black Rabbit reminded me of that trip. The best beers I've ever had and now the best meads. So go out and support some local entrepreneurs who make a unique and first-rate product and try some mead. You'll be back, and so will I.
