The food is overly sauced up. Im a saucy person but everything is drenched in spicy mayo (thats not spicy) and teriyaki sauce. The customer service is mid. I feel like if you actually enjoy sushi this might now be the place to visit. Sorry.

Really fresh and delicious sushi. Best bulgogi I've eaten in the USA. Top 3 for gyoza. Friendly staff.

Come eat like a bear at Kuma sushi!

This lady with glasses was very rude. Our serve on the other hand was the nicest person there. Came in with my friend, wanted to try something new and the salmon was mushy and sushi in general was not good. My friend could not eat it at all and asked if she could get something else or not be charged and they told her no and proceeded to charge her $15. She took the sushi we did not like off the table. And then we asked for a box for the other sushi we did want to take home. (We also noticed she threw the box with the sushi we didn’t like away in the TRASH)
Then the lady brought that same box that she threw in the TRASH with the sushi we didn’t want!!! Gave us such a hassle because we of course didn’t want to use that box! Absolutely absurd.
I do not recommend going at all!
If I could leave no stars I would
Absolutely awful.

Beware of shady tactics that are used by this restaurant to ruin your AYCE experience.

The fact that the restaurant will not return your ordering paper until they finish delivering all the dishes of a single round, the restaurant can purposely delay delivering dishes to force you to stop eating and to digest, disrupting your eating momentum and untimely ruining your AYCE experience.

I visited Reno with my girlfriend for the very first time, and my best friend who has been living in Reno for years recommended us this place.

My girlfriend and I ordered about 10 dishes for our first round. We got our first round dishes in less than 10 minutes, and we devoured them fast because we were hungry. While we were devouring, I submitted our order for second round which had about 5 dishes.

Our AYCE experience went downhill during the second round. We got 4 of the 5 dishes in about 10 minutes, which wasn’t a problem at all. However, the 5th dish, which was Baked Scallop, was still not served to us by the time we had already finished the first 4 dishes. Because the restaurant gets to hold your ordering paper while they make your dishes, this means we were forced to stop eating and to digest, killing our momentum of eating. We had to remind a waitress about it, and we ended up waiting for the Baked Scallop for 20-25 minutes.

The restaurant wasn’t busy at all, and they had 3 chefs working at the bar, so I still cannot understand why it took them so long to make a Baked Scallop dish. Additionally, based on what I’ve mentioned in the first paragraph, I have reasonable reasons to suspect that this restaurant slowed down our eating momentum on purpose.

If my speculation is wrong, then I would have truly appreciated if the staff had informed us about the long cooking time and given us back our ordering paper for us to order more rounds.

For the most part, pretty good for ayce sushi. Didn’t care for the rolls, however fried crab, nigiri and carpaccios were tasty. Some items are only one per person.

I don’t usually try new sushi spots, but this one was amazing. Definitely coming back here more often.

I went here with my boyfriend less than a week ago; we've been trying different AYCE sushi spots in Reno and we decided Kuma was by far our favorite. The rolls offered were great; not too simple but not over the top, all the fish tasted great and looked so fresh (White Ono and unagi nigiri were our favs)!! The staff was also so nice, and I love when an AYCE has a paper to order on, so nothing gets lost. I think we may just go here from now on, no need to try anywhere else!!!

If there’s a better AYCE option in Reno, I would certainly like an introduction. At Kuma, not only are the sushi and rolls excellent including the upside down scallop but the appetizers are even better. The beef teriyaki is perhaps the best I’ve had at any AYCE establishment, the gyoza above average with generous filling, the miso soup robust and the udon available and hearty. Even the desserts are delectable especially the affogato. Service was beyond the call of duty though can be less attentive during busy weekend hours. Overall, this should emerge as the consensus best AYCE in Reno in the months to come.

The food was delicious. My wife found 2 new favorite dishes, the Salmon Carpaccio and The Salmon bomb. I give high marks for the quality of the fish. I love the seared pepper salmon.

We went back 5 months later, and it did not disappoint on the 2nd visit. I recommend the tuna or salmon bombs, the Mickey and Donald sushis, the salmon or tuna carpaccio

Really sad to be writing this review but after my 3rd visit, I’ve noticed each time the quality of service has severely declined. Today we were sat rather quickly, only two of us. A big group was sat after us and received trays of wasabi/ginger. After 10 minutes, the server started taking their large order. I will add we were asked to move tables to accommodate this large group (no big deal) and still over looked by waitstaff. We still hadn’t received drinks or trays of condiments. This was also after having our AYCE card filled out and asking if we could put our order through but being forgotten about. We decided to get up and leave. This is really unfortunate because this was my new favorite sushi place as the food is delicious and rolls are super creative and fresh. Maybe in the future I will try again and update my review but for now the place has been soured for me. It was moderately busy but not as busy as I’ve seen before, I’m assuming they are understaffed.

We've tried at least 4-5 AYCE sushi places in Reno, and this is tied with Hinoki Sushi as our favorite spot. The sushi was pretty fresh and not loaded with rice, so you dont get full from it. The ambience was nice and the service fast and friendly. And the price - especially for lunch - was very reasonable. They don't have any premium sushi included but that's okay as I was happy with all the regular nigiris, maybe with the exception of the scallop which was just a little fishy. Their hot food/kitchen items were also pretty good. 5/5 overall, would definitely go back next time.
