Everything about dining at LuLou's fantastic. Their customer service is outstanding from the first phone call to set a reservation, their special touches with the customized menu is really sweet. The meal is beyond fantastic. Everything we had absolutely blew us away. The menu is fantastic and has a ton of diverse options. I have been eyeing the grilled octopus (thanks other yelpers for the photos) and finally got to try it and it was FANTASTIC. My Husband has tried octopus a half dozen other times and has never liked it, but he LOVED this one. Every dish had unexpected little pops of flavor that just took the dish to a whole other level. The ambiance is really nice, although a bit noisy when the place is full. I love the open kitchen concept to be able to peek in. We'll be back for the next special occasion dinner.

Great dinner experience and atmosphere! The manager had noticed that we had just gotten married that day and went out of her way to have a menu printed out with our names and wedding date printed on them.

Listen, I know I'm in the minority- people love this place. We came to celebrate Valentine's Day (a few days late to avoid the crowds). First off- the place is very pretentious. I have no problem paying inflated prices for a great experience and delicious food but it's just flat out not welcoming. Our server had no personalty, efficient but not warm at all. Next, they have no European reds on their wine list. Really heavy on California wines which means heavy on additive, toxins, and next-day headache. So I went for a French champagne. It was good, but he initially brought me the rosé by mistake. Next, it's one of those places that makes you order the whole dinner at once. Honestly we just weren't sure how much to order. Didn't know the portions sizes and wanted to sample our way through the menu until we were full. Again, this is just our preference. I understand this doesn't bother everyone. We got the charred octopus, the very spicy duck soup, and the Brussels sprouts and apple salad. All fantastic choices! But we ended with the onion chili rubbed short rib. It was tough and fatty, and when we tried to explain it to our server, he made no comment. There was no apology, no offer to replace it with something else, no recognition whatsoever that this $65 entree was basically inedible. I don't think we will be back.

Ambiance 5/5 Food 5/5 Service 6/5 yes I meant 6 I had to leave a message for a reservation and within 20 minutes I had a return phone call confirming the reservation. We arrive 5 minutes early (before the restaurant was open) the allowed us in and promptly seated us at the table of our choice. We took one with w window looking out in their patio. The waitress took our drink order (a glass of Pino and of Malbec please) we both thought the Malbec was the better wine. Our waitress also took our order; We started with the crab skillet (so yummy) which comes with a few bread slices which were slightly overcooked but still very tasty. My wife got the short ribs which didn't disappoint, there was plenty of sauce included in the dish. Not a dry bite to be had from what I could tell. I got the Elk loin. While the mushrooms, and potatoes were divine, the elk was pure perfection. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly. One sliver of with my knife would cut through the loin perfectly. The potatoes made with a heavy cream were full of flavor and melted in my mouth. The mushrooms were slightly grilled and so full of flavor. What surprised me was how good the sweet potato went with the Elk. I usually do not care for sweet potatoes, but it paired well with the plate. If you didn't catch the photo of the menu, look at the top, they added a custom message and allowed us to bring it home with us.

My favorite restaurant in Reno, or perhaps in the US. The food is excellent, service is superb and the drinks are great. And Colleen is a delight! Highly recommended!

This place is very good, but nothing close to “impeccable” and “exceptional” like the reviews say. Unless you have never left Reno , yes I am sure it’s the best place you have eaten. But as a high end restaurant it falls short of that exceptional service and food you expect. The octopus dish was heavy with pork fat and didn’t allow the actual octopus meat to shine which was the whole point of ordering it. The paella was drenched in butter and completely lacked the Spanish flavoring you taste in an authentic paella dish. The flavors of each individual item did not come together (shrimp, quail, clam). My wagyu beef was quite delicious but I think adding 6 fries to the side cheapens a $125 dish, and the radish like salad on the side was drenched in butter. The salad would have balanced the fatty wagyu beef with citrusy fresh flavors much better.Lastly, the service itself was average at best. From a monotone greeting upon entrance to getting a waitress who lacked any personality or character, it certainly was not a service you get when the average table leaves $60-80 tip.Since Reno doesn’t have much competition, perhaps we will be back once in a while for occasions but I’ll take Kru, the Kitchen, & Localis in Sacramento over this resturaunt any day.

This place has fantastic food. The duck was incredible. The ribeye steak was the best I’ve ever had and I’ve tried a lot of steaks. I wish I could say the same thing about the service. Our server for some reason just clearly did not want to be there, and was very inattentive and not very nice. She also answered really strangely to some of our inquiries or questions about the menu. For a restaurant like this, you definitely expect the service to be quality which was a huge let down but the food was so good it almost made up for it. They definitely weren’t overly busy. We asked for our check and explained that we were ready to go, but for some reason it took another 15 min plus me having to walk up to someone for us to finally get the check. Overall, I would go again, but would definitely request a different server to see if the service was just a fluke.

This restaurant makes me feel like I'm in NYC. It's just a richly beautiful restaurant and the menu is terrific. Everything is plated so beautifully and the squid ink pasta w/Lobster is otherworldly. This is the kind of dinner experience that you want to go on and on and on. They really cater to you here and you leave feeling satisfied having had a very special night out. Wait staff is on their game and they do a great job adding to this special experience.

We came by the restaurant and they stopped seating people for dinner 45 minutes before they close, even though they clearly had tables available. They also did not answer the phone when we called to find out if they had a table available before heading to the restaurant. All this on top of the fact that they close super early (8.30pm) to begin with. If they stop seating at 7.45pm they should update their opening hours to say they close at 7.45pm otherwise it is very misleading for guests.

The food in this restaurant is really intricate and artistic, but it wasn't really my thing. While their Foie gras was extremely delicious, everything else, the soups and the main entrees, contained many weird ingredients and sauces, which resulted in a weird taste and texture.

LoLous is a wonderful place for special meal. Their presentation and ambiance is worth the hype. Make a reservation in advance to be sure you can be accommodated. If you have any food restrictions the staff can guide your decisions. (Get there early and pop into Stremmel Gallery!)

Service was terrible, took over an hour to get our food. Took so long for a server to greet us. We gave up and decided to leave. We had order drinks at the bar and when we let them know we were leaving, the server took our drinks and walked us out.
