We waited for almost 2 hours for our food. We had a party of 14. Family flew from out of town. The manager never came out. Extremely disappointed

Our first time here last night. Set a reservation and were seated promptly upon arrival. Place was packed.

First things to note, the atmosphere is amazing, the service was also amazing, and we all enjoyed our food and were thoroughly surprised at how nice everything was for the price point. It is a little on the pricey side but I feel you definitely get what you pay for.

Like others have said, we were there for two hours. It took a LONG time to get our food. However the waitress and waiter walking around made sure our waters and drinks were full pretty much at all times. So while the wait was long the service made up for it and the food was great.

It's not something I take advantage of but they also have a quite extensive menu for drinks.
For the five of us it came out to roughly 130$. That is with no alcoholic beverages.

Overall will definitely be back.

My friend and I had reservations at Mario’s at 5pm. We were seated right away as there were only 2-3 other tables that had people at them at the time.
We were informed that our server would be with us soon. It took her a while to get to us, but we were in no hurry at the time.
We placed our order at about 5:15.
In the time it took to get our food, we saw people who came in after us get their food before us. Our server was nowhere to be found. My friend finally got up to try and track down someone to help us. The manager told her that our server was new and that she was a little slow. I don’t think our server had anything to do with it.
We didn’t get out good until 6:30 - an hour and 15 minutes after we placed it. And with no one checking on us or giving updates. You’d think they would make sure our food tasted good, right? Nope. I ordered the gnocchi with Gorgonzola sauce and added grilled chicken. Only half the gnocchi was cooked. The other half was still raw dough (see my picture). It was also cold and the chicken had no flavor. Very bland. I don’t think they used any salt on it at al.
My friend, who has food allergies and has to order her food very carefully, got her food and it had things in her food that she’s allergic to and had specifically told our server that she couldn’t have. At first, she tried to eat her pasta that had pesto on it, which she can have, and again there was no flavor. No salt at all. She tried her chicken and it was the same. No salt and a bad flavor. And it was all cold as well!
We were severely disappointed. And we had no time to get other food as we had theater tickets at 7pm. The manager was rude when we complained about the food. Said that she watched them cook our food so it couldn’t be cold. So she was also saying that if she just watched them cook our food, then why were they just cooking our food after we had been waiting over an hour?
My guess is our order was never put in and then they rushed to get our food out and that’s why it was terrible and cold.
Then the manager still had the nerve to try and get us to pay for the food. We ended up only paying for the cup of soup my friend had, which was really good, and the drink I ordered. At that point, we shouldn’t have had to pay for anything.
The manager never came back and never apologized.
Overall, one of the worst experiences in Reno since I lived here over 20 years ago.

Had a great experience with my wife for our anniversary. They didn’t know it was our anniversary (we didn’t tell them) but we were treated as if they knew we were there for something special. Sat us at the nicest seats in town overlooking the Truckee River. We had appetizers, a main course, and dessert and I couldn’t tell you which was my favorite, they were all delicious!

My partner and I tried out Mario's for dinner when we were in Reno recently. We were blown away by this family-run business. Excellent decor and atmosphere. Exceptional staff and service. An extensive menu of traditional Italian food. And the food and presentation were top notch too.

Highly recommended. We'll be back.

So I came in and they didn’t even acknowledge me. It took 10 minutes to even get help! The people working here would rather talk to a women at the bar, then help their customers, WOULD NOT COME HERE AGAIN food smells amazing though.

It was a sad evening. We had been planning on checking them out for quite some time, and finally found the time on my wife's birthday. We were 30 minutes early for our reservation and told the hostess we were happy to sit at the bar and have a cocktail or two. But no, she fixed us right up with a booth that we sat in for 25 minutes before Jennifer bothered to stop by. In fact, Jen served the table who had been seated 15 minutes after us. We would have rather sat at the bar and at least had a drink. We tried to recover and ordered some ho-hum bruschetta and a couple of pasta dishes, since this was our first visit. The wife's lasagna was mediocre while my spaghetti was cursed with a burnt sauce that was quite off-putting. I would have mentioned it to Jen but she did not stop by for another twenty minutes, by which time I was in the mode of just trying to be pleasant enough to leave a tip and remember never to come back. If you're reading this and trying to decide whether or not to go, I'd advise you to check out other Italian restaurants in town like Johnny's, La Cuchina and the like. Portofinos is not worth your time.

The artichoke soup was really good. The eggplant parmigiana was a little too mushy for me. But others food looked really good (and they said it was good lol).
