Location in the basement of the old post office gives it a nice speakeasy vibe. Small and cozy with small bar and a few tables, comfy chairs with more seating in a common area outside of bar. They serve a variety of pre prohibition cocktails, using their own spirits plus other high end ones. Also serve wines and microbrews. They have a small menu of snacks and sandwiches. The charcuterie board is beautiful and delicious. Great place to meet friends and have a nosh and drinks.

A hidden gem for sure. Solid menu and their distillery production is delicious, especially the bourbon.

Cool little place.I was unaware there's alcohol infused in the whip cream and berry sauce, which I personally didn't like.Staff is friendly and interactive. I'll visit again, for sure.

Knowledgeable bartender who took the time to explain the cocktails and suggest options. Barrel aged Manhattan was amazing. The only downside is they close too early.

Cat made our experience at Seven Troughs really special. My 2 sisters and I popped in to try the rum-soaked cupcake (which was delicious!). We actually shared one dessert 3 ways and Cat was so gracious and kind about our silly $6 order and even offered us waters with lemon. She shared with us a couple of great bartending tips and just really made our visit to Seven Troughs enjoyable.

What a quaint little place for eats and drinks for a good price. I really like the old school speakeasy concept. A cool place to relax and not blow a ton of money for happy hour. (See menu pix). The mixologist Kat (Cat?) knew her stuff - not just making drinks but the history, all about each liquor, and distillation notes. They were even doing a cask Manhattan to debut in a few weeks. If you are nearby, def GO! If I stay in the area again I will definitely drop in to Seven Troughs. They only drawback is their early close time (the whole building closes and they are just one of several shops in The Basement).

Excellent service at a Sunday brunch. Food was spectacular, served in very filling portions. 7 Troughs spirits were fitting to our taste. Very cool vibe. Please call for reservations!!!

It’s a cool little spot, and feels like a comfortable, local place, although I’m not a local. The whole Basement space seems pretty cool. This place is open an hour after the rest of the places close, at least on the weekend. I didn’t try the food, so I can’t judge that and give a well informed fifth star, but for the space and the bartender and the bourbon drink, it’s a solid four stars. The classic whiskey sour is very good—a bit sweet but not too much, I tasted the whiskey and it was very smooth, but there was a lot else going on. The egg white added a richness and creaminess. There are regular tables, some high bar tables, some bar seating, and some easy chairs.

We had our office holiday party here and Tyler? (I think) was our bartender for the night. He doesn't work there all the time, but he did an amazing job. The food was incredible (huge charcuterie platters), the holiday decor in the building was a wonderful backdrop for our photos and the vibe there is just so chill. I can't wait to spend a few nights after work sampling more of the unique cocktails. Definitely a lovely place to have a few drinks and food. I'm hoping to catch a weekend brunch one day because I hear they do a really great brunch.

Loved the chill vibe of this place. The music was a great mix of a classic smooth jazz, French, Billie Holiday and similar taste.Kat was an amazing bartender. Every drink was delightful and had a classic feel to each bourbon drink I ordered from her. The conversation was great and made me feel like a local, which I am not.She recommended the smoked salmon Mac and Cheese which was absolutely delicious!Highly recommend this place to anyone.

Very rude staff. We are visiting Reno for the first time and we love afternoon cocktails. We had did our homework as we love to travel and explore local watering holes. We sat at the bar and it was a small mess of glasses but we sat as that was two seats available. She quickly snipped at us that we surely wasn’t going to sit there as she hadn’t tidied it up. She said to sit at another table and when we walked there another staff lady said we needed reservations. We were flabbergasted. I was so disappointed as I definitely wanted to try it.

Kat is amazing. She’s a wizard making drinks, and each one was as tasty as the last, and she was entertaining as all heck to talk to. The speakeasy is in the old post office building, which is an Art Deco masterpiece, which was fun to wander around in. Definitely check this place out.

Had online reservations confirmed by email, made through their website ( not the generic kind of reply) but they screwed it up and we did not have a table, we were rudely told with no apology or solution. Also told we should have called instead and they were not aware of online reservations on their website??? Waitress/hostess was very abrupt, as soon as we walked in, did not say hello, or welcome, just do you have a reservation in that "tone" like you were being scolded. We took 2 seats at the bar on our own, were never offered a menu and it got about 20% better for a minute. Was told by bartender that they serve older period cocktails because it was a speakeasy, when I ordered a ramos fizz, ( been a drink since 1888, according to search history). Anyway he looked it up and made something? The other person had a awesome bloody mary, but other tables came and went and they never offered us one or a menu, gave tables actually to ppl without reservations. Employees have very little experience/ppl skills and it shows. Actually detracts from a beautiful venue. Will be letting the owner know, whose name the bartender refused to reveal. Horrible experience!! And These are just the highlights! Would not go back when their are other boutique places that actually are happy to see you! Anybody will take your money, might as well be service industry workers with a good brand and a smile!
